Must be working out for both teams then because Krajicek has been better with the Lightning than expected and far better than O'Brien was. I am the biggest O'Brien fan out there and I have his jersey but with the way SOB played and the way Krajicek has played I consider this a steal.
Good to see SOB is doing well in Vancouver though.
I think the Caps and up until lately, Canes would have something to say about that.
You can't just throw together a team of overpaid, overrated, and then underperforming (in some cases) talents and expect them to perform overnight. It doesn't always work like that in team sports.
I'm not certain them not doing well is Melrose as much as he was partially undermined. He's been a decent coach in the past, and with some work and a staff/ownership that doesn't meddle and supports him with players he needs not players that have financial deals with the owner or are being picked to play on a fantasy hockey squad, and then he could do well.
Weren't the Lightning the worst team in the league last year, hence Stamkos? So, it's just bizarre that the owners went out and signed those FA's, a guy that hasn't coached in years, and somehow, the team was supposed to gel and be really good.
You can't just go out and buy a team, and expect chemistry to just happen. These owners are all expecting a worst to first turnaround, and that likely just won't happen (maybe watching the Rays filled there heads recently).
Melrose is to blame for part of it, but the whole situation smells pretty bad all around.
The Caps and Canes are still better than the Lightning though IMO, in spite of Melrose thinks.
Melrose called the players out earlier last week, when he walked out of a practice. Management sided with the players. They should just Name Vinnie the player coach and see how well things go from there.
he is just bitter, if the players had all the control, then he did not do his job in the first place, it seems like they never respected him as a coach, everybody is blaming Vinny or Marty for this, but the whole team didn't like him. Brian Lawton said that players had nothing to do with their decision, so who is lying
