(Naslund because he is a better captain and can play some D)

Jarome Iginla vs Martin Havlat

(Iginla because of his stength and because he isn't a creep :p )

Mats Sundin vs Rick Nash

(Nash because he is one of the most exciting young players with a bright future as a captain)

Brian Mccabe vs Sheldon Sourray

(McCabe because he is more durable and is better in every category when on his game)

Zdeno Chara vs Chris Pronger

(Pronger because he has proven more and is a better captain)

Jeremy Roenick vs Jere Lehtinen

Roenick without a doubt. He's a leader, he's his team's best player. That's not Lehtinen, that's Modano.

Mike Modano vs Joe Sakic

Sakic. He's had the better career and is certainly having the better season.

Martin St Louis vs Marian Hossa

I'm not going to pretend I'm unbiased here. That being said, Hossa is the more complete player. Obviously he is more physical and such, but he's also superior defensively. With St. Louis, I'm just not sure he can't be shut down simply becuase of his size.

Markus Naslund vs Ilya Kovalchuk

Naslund. Neither play complete hockey, but Naslund is better in almost every facet except pure skill and potential. Kovalchuk should have a better career but at present he's not as good.

Jarome Iginla vs Martin Havlat

Iginla. He is a team leader and does as much if not more with much less help. Ya, Havlat is on the third line so to speak, but Iginla is really the only scoring threat on Calgary.

Mats Sundin vs Rick Nash

I don't understand where this comparison comes from. I think it's very hard to evaluate Nash at this time because at one point last year Marian Gaborik was looking like Nash. This year, he looks like a chump. Nash may be the better player now, and he may have the better career, but I'd take Sundin on my team for the rest of the season over Nash. If that makes any sense.

Brian Mccabe vs Sheldon Sourray

McCabe. He's at least had two good seasons, Souray could be a one-hit wonder, and with the way he keeps getting hurt, it's pretty easy to see that being the case.

Zdeno Chara vs Chris Pronger

Chara is having the better season but Pronger is the better player for his career. I haven't had enough of a chance to watch Pronger this year, but from the limited amount I've seen, he's not the same player he was before his injury woes. It's a toss-up.

Roberto Luongo vs Martin Brodeaur

Kind of like the Nash/Sundin comparison. I'd rather have Brodeur in my goal heading into the playoffs, but Luongo is probably better at this point and is having a better season. Please note, Sundin is nowhere near as good as Brodeur at his respective position.

Jeremy Roenick vs Jere Lehtinen
Jere Lehtinen: one of the best two-way players in the game

Mike Modano vs Joe Sakic
Joe Sakic: not as fast, but has the puck on a string and a wicked wristshot

Martin St Louis vs Marian Hossa
Martin St. Louis: a little guy, but is fast and is a special teams king

Markus Naslund vs Ilya Kovalchuk
On pure skill, Kovalchuk. On overall, Naslund simply because he's consistent and is one helluva captain(bias here of course)

Jarome Iginla vs Martin Havlat
Martin Havlat: Always been more of a finesse player fan than a power forward fan. Also he's not as streaky as Iginla.

Mats Sundin vs Rick Nash
Rick Nash is money. Give him someone to pass to and he'll rack up the points. However, Sundin is also very consistent and proven playoff performer. Hard to say after only two seasons for Nash(see Gaborik).

Brian Mccabe vs Sheldon Sourray
Brian McCabe: Big hitter, mean and pretty good on the offensive side too. Might be different if Souray wasn't injured so much.

Zdeno Chara vs Chris Pronger
Zdeno Chara: Pronger has too much of a tendency to take dumb penalties in key situations. Chara also has one helluva blast from the point. It's very close though.

Roberto Luongo vs Martin Brodeur
Into the playoffs, Brodeur. Just can't beat consistency. After a few seasons, it'll probably be Luongo though. Still too early to judge.

Thanks for your opinions, group 2 is now up. On a side note, is there any way for me to edit the actual title of the topic? I tried but for some reason the edit doesn't appear on the main forum.

Todd Bertuzzi vs. Milan Hejduk

(Hejduk is pure sniper)

Sergei Federov vs. Robert Lang

(Fedorov for every reason)

Pavel Datsyuk vs. Vincent Lecavallier

(Lecavalier has got the size and is a better leader)

Daniel Alfredsson vs. Glen Murray

(Murray better goal scorer)

Alex Tanguay vs. Alexi Kovalev

(Kovalev cause Tanguay is small)

Peter Bondra vs. Brendan Morrison

(Brendan Morrison is a young 2 way center)

Nick Lidstrom vs. Bob Blake

(Blake because of his physical play and he is Canadian)

Scott Neidermayer vs. Ed Jovanoski

(Neidermayer because he is just amazing )

Marty Turco vs. Jose Theodore

(Theodore is just better IMO)

Todd Bertuzzi vs. Milan Hejduk

Bertuzzi, since it takes two to three guys to take him down.

Sergei Federov vs. Robert Lang

Federov - better two way guy plus holds his own in the offensive end

Pavel Datsyuk vs. Vincent Lecavallier

Datsyuk - this guy's stickhandling is ridiculously good

Daniel Alfredsson vs. Glen Murray

Toss-up - Murray needs a setup man to be effective but Alfredsson isn't as good a goal scorer

Alex Tanguay vs. Alexi Kovalev

Tanguay - very good passer that has come out of Forsberg's shadow this season(although Forsberg being injured helps)

Peter Bondra vs. Brendan Morrison

Morrison - two way centre, can play PK and PP

Nick Lidstrom vs. Bob Blake

Lidstrom - this guy isn't human, seriously

Scott Neidermayer vs. Ed Jovanoski

Toss-up - Niedermeyer's the better skater and leader but Jovanovski's a game changer and big hitter

Marty Turco vs. Jose Theodore

Theodore - close one due to Turco's puck handling, but Theodore's a game stealer

I thought you were more of a 'finesse' player fan?

It's hilarious that you cited that as a reason for picking Havlat over Iginla (which is not a great comparison in my opinion, Iginla is the better player, but that is no slight to Havlat) but almost use the exact opposite when choosing Bertuzzi, pointing to a 'powerforward'ish characteristic.

I guess bias comes into play a bit here.

Sorry, personal bias. Bertuzzi also has a finesse side(which he uses far too frequently IMO and not enough of his power game). Not like Hedjuk's exactly a finesse guy either, but oh well. I need to go get some caffeine, I'm contradicting myself.
