when i first read the deal i though it was good..

but thats because i thought sydor was on like a 1.5 mill contract..not the same as bouch...and i thought we finally made some cap room.

terrible move IMO...great for pittsburgh...well done to their GM..we have teo and we still cant get it right..

Maybe Hul/Jackson really really like hedman...

It's safe to say that we know what Sydor brings and it's not pretty.

it can't be much worse that Boucher, he has been abysmal for a while now.
Defensive positioning has been the one sound part of his game, other than that, he has struggled

It's because he's the new guy to the team. Norstrom was hammered too for any defensive failing by the entire team even though he was, arguably, the best d-man on the Stars during the playoffs and now he's missed to an extent by those that ripped him every game.

I'll take your word on that, but that wouldn't be why Sydor waived his NTC or NMC to go to Dallas. It's long been known Sydor wanted out of Pittsburgh since the first week of last season. In fact, I was a bit surprised he wasn't bought out this past summer. He likely would have gone to whatever the least friendly team is if it meant he'd get playing time and be treated respectfully, or at least according to him.

Of course the fact he knows a good many people within the organization and quite a few players didn't hurt his non-decision, but I doubt he's thinking to himself, "they have a nice jet in Dallas, so I'll waive my NMC and go there."

Sydor is not a flowery, motivational type guy. He is a get-in-your-face, turning chairs over kind of guy.

He'll be the perfect antagonist to the sideshow that Avery has brought to the locker room.

On paper, this is the same team that pushed Detroit in the WCF. I don't think you should underrate leadership on a talented team.

Sydor is the guy who played on a broken leg in the finals. This is a good, not great addition for the Stars.

As for Pittsburgh, Therrien didn't like Sydor; that much was evident. I'm sure they will get an upgrade just because they will get along better and be used in more situations than Sydor was.

The only real problem with trading Boucher, for me at least, is we should've traded him 2 years ago after his break out season.

Noone could've forseen this many injuries for him. But to think he could continue to produce like he did in 06-07 would've been ridiculous. And obviously, he isn't the greatest defensive defensemen we have on the team.

From a leadership point (which I said from the beginning of the season we would miss from Stu), Syd brings a little of that back no doubt. Is it enough? We'll find out.

Sydor has already been eons worse here than Boucher, who had his problems but very rarely gave the puck away in the middle of the ice.

I feel bad for Boucher. Was he calcium-deprived as a child or something? I think at least half of his career injuries have been broken things (foot, face twice, hand, finger, and his neck in juniors).

Exactly, Sydor has been a joke.

1) He gets danced more than Niskanen does by forwards. Who thought that was possible?

2) He turns the puck over in the defensive zone with regularity.

3) He randomly falls down. Most of the time it leads to odd man rushes.

4) Despite Daley's improved player, Sydor is still getting his time on the PP.

Boucher's Glass body is better than Sydor. I donít think Sydor has played one good game since getting to Dallas.

5) Sydor sucks when he plays every game, but the coaching staff will continue to do so. Instead of rotating Janik one game, Sydor the next etc.

6) Sydor's veteran presence in helping the younger defenseman can't be overlooked, no matter how bad he sucks on the ice.

The younger defensemen are better now that he's here?

I must have missed this. They seem to be the same level of suck.

Tx- Boucher's problems were clearing along the boards related mostly. Sydor tends to just be head-scratching, open-ice turnovers.

I hope so. Grossman took a step back the last few games, but I'm glad he getting back with Robidas, at least he was in practice.

Niskanen played somewhat better. Plus, the one game he and Janik played as a pair, they both looked good.

Sydor has looked bad though. His time on the PP really pisses me off. If Tippett was concerned about holding people accountable and rewarding hard work, Daley would be on the PP.

Daley has had bad games this year, but he's stepped up when Morrow went down. Eriksson, Neal, and Daley are the only players that have elevated their game. Neal and Eriksson have seen that turn into more TOI and more PP time. Daley is getting the minutes, but is getting shafted on PP time.

They aren't right now, but that's one of the reasons he was brought back for that.

you cant single out one player, the whole team is making costly turn overs.

Boucher returned for nine games then missed the Penguins last two games with another "undisclosed injury".

I would still take him over the black hole of suck that Sydor has been. Janik and Hutchinson have been, for the most part, serviceable, and maybe it would make them play Vishnevskiy.

I do feel for Boucher. It seems like he's never gotten over trying to play through his shoulder injury in March of 07. That, and the Stars' very poor judgment to not have surgery on that injury over the summer, seems to have led to his constant IR spiral.

Sydor has no such excuse. He just sucks. I don't care about his locker room presence, because he more than nullifies it with how bad he is on the ice.
