Boucher to the Pens for Sydor...

Did we miss the boat on this one???I mean... Sydor?I'd rather have Boucher as 6th-7th D-man than Brisebois and O'byrne by far..

Dallas fans are saying Boucher slowed down ALOT this year. No point in getting a 2.5mil$ wash up D-man if it is the case...

Boucher is atrocious.

Slow, injury prone and clueless on the ice.

It's been a fast slide down for Phillipe Boucher.

No thanks.

This guy can shoot on the point, something that we don't have on the PP.

BG is a master at getting slowed down vets...Bonk,Ninnima,Smolinski,Brisebois,Lang....wh at's one more.

Geez you'd think with his Dallas connection he can work something out....or has the Hull era now closed that chapter.

You guys are hilarious.

There is no happy medium with Habs HF posters. Either you despise the GM for moves they don't make or you despise them for moves they do make. After reading some of the posts on here, it's like some of you believe that you know more of what goes on in the league then Bob Gainey does.

Big deal, Montreal missed out on Phillippe Boucher... it's the end of the world? Boucher was traded by an awful Dallas Stars team for very little in return. Boucher would not come to Montreal as a savior, despite what many of you arm chair GMs think.

Let's hit the panic button and pick up an older player who we will just end up hating in a months time. It's people like that who make true Habs fans sick to their stomachs. Give this team a chance to get back on it's feet. Until then, go wild on NHL 09 and quit *****ing about what could have and what should have been done.

To the 2nd, third and fourth posters....I knew exactly what I was gonna see when I opened this thread. Good job Bob! Pick up the phone Bob! Bob is asleep etc....

I hope you were sarcastic....because posters like you make this board annoying...as hell. Sure Bob is in his office clipping his toe nails...

We are gonna get someone better than Boucher I think. I must be biased though because I never thought he was that good except for a couple seasons.

I'd like to see Weber or Carle a couple times this season....let's wait!!!! The longer we wait, the bigger salary we will be able to fit under the cap. Simple. Bob is patient and he'll pull the trigger. The timing is just not right. He probably has already targeted a couple guys better than Boucher and waits so he could fit them under the cap. Or he is just clipping his toe nails. Yours to judge.

Indeed.

Your posts are the best example of how people overreact to a General Manager's decisions.

Seems like we have a lot of NHL insiders in this thread. Clearly you guys know that Gainey didn't inquire about him or that Pittsburgh didn't call and the Stars just accepted their offer or anything else. Hopefully you guys will continue to give us insider information in the future.

Man, I read some of these comments and wonder if you guys know what year it is. Does anyone have NHL Center Ice and watch games in the other conference? Boucher would have been a nice pick-up 2-3 years ago, but he's been atocious this year. It's not a chemistry thing, but rather he's logged a lot of minutes over his career, had some injuries, and plays in a tough division and conference. He's done as far as the new NHL is concerned. He has a hell of a shot, but that's it.

Do you guys want to pay $2.5 million for another Niniimaa? You're better off calling up Yanick Weber (which I don't believe is the answer either).

How many GM would trade Ribeiro for a 8th D?

Don't get me wrong, I actually like Bob Gainey but Boucher would have fill a big hole on the PP and I think this guy had some energy left in the tank.

At 2,5M$ and a UFA at the end of the season, it was a low risk situation.

Top four D?

Are you serious?

Do you have any idea how ignorant this comment makes you look? This place is full of "Habs Fans" who aren't actually hockey fans. Aren't you interested in following the rest of the league too, or just Montreal? It would really inform your opinions if you knew what was going on around the league.

Let me steer you in the right direction ... for starters, it's 2008...
