Why not? I think a vintage look like that for the centennial year would be awesome....

mmm not too sure about that.. yeah, i like the vintage style, but it may not be good for him after all, dont remember Fleury had huge problem with his yellow pad, until he changed them to the white one.. wich helps because shooters see less the intentions of the goalie.. imo.. it might not be the case.. but anyway... if he can suceed good for him.

Why not? That would be awesome if he paid an homage to Canadiens goalies in the past. Auction them off to charity after or something.

That would be hilarious. I can already see the shooter coming down on him and thinking, what the heck are those ugly beasts?

Yeah they're probably going straight to auction after one practice or preseason game.

No surprise coming from a cowboy!

I hope he keeps those for the entire season. Opposing players will be distracted by them, it looks so... out-of-place, how can a player not stop and think "ouatte de phoque?? did I just pop into the twilight zone??"

Most likely for the games where the Habs will wear their vintage jerseys.

yeah but i think that's more mental than anything else. It was publicized by the penguins and why not? Anything to boost Fleury's confidence up. If Price can go from white to brown without caring about the consequences, it might make him even more intimidating.

I like them. I'd say the will look great with one of the vintage sweaters, the team will be wearing over the season.

I like them but I think he should stick with his white pads.

Apparantly, goalies wearing white based pads have a substantially lower GAA than goalies with darker pads. Worked pretty well for Fleury last year.

Well, it didn't seem to work for Theodore!

I find this kind of funny, considering that some of the league's greatest goaltenders of alltime wore brown pads (take your pick, Dryden, Plante, Sawchuk, Tretiak, and even guys like Roy for some time), and you are just bringing up one example of a recent opinion someone (the optometrist) had about Fleury's pads that has completely shattered the notion of coloured pads for you.

There could be a trend for goalies to wear white pads from now on because this opinion from the Ottawa optometrist seems to have helped Fleury, as he played well into the playoffs. Like all old-wives tales, it will persist despite lacking evidence. At the end of the day, the true determinant of a goalie's play is his technical skills and his mental toughness.

I hope so, i think the last goalie to use these brown horrors was Vincent Riendeau in '87!

Even Andy Moog got himself some real pads when he signed with us.
