Viktor Kozlov to NJ

http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?ID=74515&hubName=nhl

Devils sent back Christian Berglund and defenceman Victor Uchevatov. Sounds like a good steal to me. Does this mean FLA has conceded defeat? They still had a shot, kind of.

Not a bad deal IMO it works out for both teams in reality, which is why the trade happened.

How did it work out for both teams? What does Berglund bring to the Panthers. Another 3rd liner. Last I checked we have more than enough of those with Hagman, Nilson, Samuelsson, Ritchie, Messier, Cullen, Beaudoin and the like. I'm being generous too... some of those guys are 4th liners, and when you're on the Panthers, that's not saying much.

What I find interesting is that FLA is tied with the Sabres 5 games out of 8th I believe. Does this mean that the Sabres are now officially open for business too? I've been hearing Satan rumours for about a year now so who knows.

Kozlov plugs the hole that was left when Nieuwendyk left. We needed a second line center, and we got one. Plus, he's got good defensive instincts, and I bet, knowing Lou, a desire to win. His injury history worries me somewhat, but frankly, while Berglund will flourish under a system that isn't the trap, Uchevatov is nothing. It's Berglund for Kozlov, and if I'm Lou Lamoriello, I do that every day of the week.

I don't like Kozlov at all but for that price, I wouldn't mind him on my team..

Solid deal for New Jersey..

So, is it me or is this basically Victor Kozlov as a free gift to NJ? Will these two prospects even play in the NHL on a regular basis?

It's not free. Devils fans really like Berglund, and if anyone but Pat Burns was our head coach (and he hadn't gotten injured) Berglund would have been a regular. He's a good pickup. Uchevatov isn't really worth too much yet, but if he learns to play with an edge he has a shot. The Rats fans hated him though, terrible positional play.
