Who Are The Worst Coaches In The NHL?

Discuss. Every single Oilers' fan (except me) will say MacTavish, but I'm sure there are some doozies out there right now.

Well, you can take the mullet off the list, and probably put him back on the list of worst commentators in the NHL in about a week.

Of course most people will just end up listing their own team's coach.

Stevens doesn't have what most people refer to as a "system". His idea of coaching is to switch up the lines and defensive pairings until something looks like its working. When it inevitably stops working because of a lack of this so called "system", he just changes them up again.

I don't see how MacTavish has kept his job in Edmonton. I'd say him first. John Stevens from Philadelphia is right behind him though. Philly will fire him soon enough, they'll have to.

I'd say McTavish is good when it comes to getting the most of an average roster, but can't take a talented team to the next level, like Quenneville. The worst in the league may be Granato, with Stevens giving him quite a bit of competition.

The thing about Renney is that he is too soft and tends to be indifferent at times. If he can break out from his own small shell(which I have seen him done a few time this season already), he can definitely be an Adams candidate.

Stick Hitchcock in there. Stevens doesn't get my vote just yet.

IMO MacTavish unfairly gets dumped on by Oilers fans. He is made the scapegoat for their lack of success, but the reality is Kevin Lowe has never built the Oilers into a real contender. I guess it's easier to blame MacT than it is to admit that the team isn't that good. They weren't even that good the year they made the Finals because they barely made the playoffs. I think MacT was a big part of the reason why they went as far as they did in the playoffs that year. It seems like Kevin Lowe gets all the credit for any success and MacT gets all of the blame for the lack of success.

I agree with Therrien and Stevens, though.

Untrue. That was an EXCELLENT team with league worst goaltending. If they had a half decent net minder from the start of the season on, they could have easily won the division. That said, they didn't and they didn't so I can see where you're comming from.

Sutter isn't bad by any means but sometimes his line combinations make me want to Kill babies with a rusty chainsaw.
