Is Tippit on thin ice?

With mullet man gone after 10 games, is Super Dave skating on thin ice, after the play so far???

I don't think so. The Dallas GM's always say they are behind him and trust him. The other day, Hull went out of his way to say the coaches were doing everything they could. He placed all the blame on the players.

Of course, I also just read the Tampa's new owners went on the XM radio NHL show and said Melrose's job was "very secure" about a week ago.

Tippett's OK, he's just been focused on his other team:

He should be, but he's not.

Just feels like the Stars are the fat kid that got left behind at the bus stop and who is now struggling, running to try to catch the bus and always seems to be about 30 feet behind it.

I hope Tip doesn't go though.

This team is super talented, so Tippett will have to get them gelling soon, or he definitely will be on thin ice.

I'm not sold on the Avery pickup by Hull & Co. I think he is an effective player, but the Stars already had that role plenty filled by Ott and Barch etc. Avery isn't really needed in Dallas. I think he'll be moved before the season is out.

Modano had some good points here:

Officially speaking, not at the moment. Shamelessly ripped from Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News.

Dallas Stars' co-GMs sticking to plan

02:04 AM CST on Saturday, November 15, 2008

By MIKE HEIKA / The Dallas Morning News
mheika@dallasnews.com

".... the Stars' co-general managers said Friday they have no plans of terminating coach Dave Tippett or shipping out key players.

"That just doesn't make sense in the long-term," Brett Hull said. "I mean, we worked hard all summer to come up with a plan, and we're not going to bail on it a month into the season.

"I understand the situation we're in, and I understand just how serious it is, but we built this team because we believe in this team, and now we have to trust that we built it right.".....

.... Jackson was vehement in his defense of the coaching staff.

"That isn't even a consideration," Jackson said when asked about a possible change of coaches. "These guys have a history of success, and we believe in them." "

He survived after one of the worse playoff performances since the most the Texas in 2004.
He survived after Colorado upset in 2006 in 5 games.
He survived after a pretty bad regular season (by Stars standards in 2007).
He survived after we lost in game 7, even though most fans were calling for his head, in 2007 against Vancouver.
He survived after losing a hold on the Pacific Division in 2008.

He'll survive after this.
