one player i had in mind to go after. makes sense to me..
Milan Hejduk. I mean lets face it. If any team is going into rebuilding mode, it's Colorado. This guy's a right winger who could help our pp and would look great next too Gomez or Drury. And if the asking price is too steep for him then how about inquiring about Smyth. Maybe he'll like Manhattan better than LI, idk? The whole league knows, even though Sakic signed on for one more year, this team is dead and needs to start all over. Any thoughts?
Didn't Hejduk state that he wanted to retire when his contract expired, and he wanted it to expire in Colorado? I think he really likes it there, and with the way he and Statsny are playing, I doubt he gets moved.
I think if we're going to get a bona-fide scorer on the wings from someone we're going to get dragged over the coals, or a team is going to have to be desperate to acquire a player like Rozsival or Prucha which is hard to imagine at this point.
However, I still believe that there is chemistry within this team, it's just a matter of when it clicks. Naslund and Zherdev are quality wingers, and Dawes and Korpikoski (who looked better on the wing IMO) have a considerable amount of talent as well. It's just a matter of everyone putting it together at the same time.
LW, size, skill, young, AVG 23.4 goals over last 5 years on bad teams.
I'd like to get him here and lock him up with Zherdev, Dubinsky, and Staal.
Frolov would be great but I'm not sure what we would have to give up... as someone else said. He'd be a great addition though.
I was also thinking about Marty St. Louis. Tampa is desperate for a puck moving D-man right now. They have Steve Eminger, who they just picked up off waivers, heading up PP1.
There has always been some grumbling about Marty the last few years about trading him and he and Roz make the same amount. They also have a little cap space, so the deal could include Prucha or Dawes. St. Louis contract is only 2 more years.
