If we can't go 40-25, then we don't deserve to make the playoffs anyway. Playoff teams have to do that. That's not unreasonable by any stretch. You can't be a playoff team and play .500 hockey.

I generally agree, however Boston had 41 wins last year which would make them a .500 team.

Well, if you want to get technical, then yeah maybe we could squeak into the 8th spot. But we can't go .500 or 35-30 from here on out and expect to make the playoffs.

If Horton's gonna step up like that, he needs to take the guy out, not let him go by.

No kidding! Parise should be very sore on the bench right now. Perfect chance for an open ice hit and Horton wimps out...

Uhh, if we get enough points to make the playoffs, we deserve to make the playoffs. Doesn't matter how it's done, as long as it's done.

No, I'm not saying I expect playoffs this year.

This is the same thing that happened in Tampa. This game should not be tied right now. Vokoun is bailing us out big time here.

Players who show up to play every game:
  1. Booth
  2. Vokoun
  3. McCabe
  4. Ballard
  5. Campbell

So 5 players out of 18 are consistent. That is not conducive to winning.

And, although Bouwmeester is a very talented, it seems he also takes the occasional "mental break". For example: sometimes he lets the puck go when he's on the point; other times it takes him a while to get back into position--after realizing that a play is developing.

that's just silliness. weiss doesn't show up? frolik? dvo? allen? stillman? etc... c'mon. this team just doesn't know how to win consistently. atf made some great points earlier, especially the metaphor about adding good ingredients to a bad soup. it's not one or two people that you need to change. like many other teams that have the talent to be a playoff team but are not, they just need to get past the ingrained mentality that a poorly managed team develops over years. they've got the players to compete against the best teams when they play well. that's all you can ask of them right now.

Weiss was our best player in the first period. Offensively he created chances and defensively, he back checked several times to break up plays.

The Express line put back together and there they are creating chances out there.

I noticed that. We need a top center so Weiss can center Horton.

Good job by Stewart, that's the type of player we need him to be, stepping up to defend his teammates.

I wanna see Stewart fight in the NHL. He was pretty good in juniors.

That's freaking unfortunate. McCabe drops his stick and it leads to the first goal of the game...

Nice...how'd McCabe lose his stick anyway?

Elias is Cat killer. OK guys, let's get motivated.

Broke Horton's jaw. I can see him going with Clarkson or Brookbank if he finds himself in the mood at somepoint.

Man, I really missed the Express line. They need to stay together -- at least as long as Stillman is out.
