Heavyweights on the Waiver Wire

A number of fighters have been going on waivers recently. BJ Crombeen went to St. Louis, who then waived David Koci, who went to Tampa Bay.

The latest victim is Wade Belak of the Florida Panthers, who went on waivers this afternoon.

So, the two questions I mean to pose in this thread are:

1.) Do we have a need for a heavyweight? (I think this one is pretty easy to answer but I'm asking it anyway for the sake of opening up debate )

2.) Should we claim Belak?

Isn't Belak awful? Yeah he can swing them, but he can't take a regular shift.

I'm still trying to figure out why Tarnasky didn't play vs the Sharks. Those games are always chippy, and he can provide us more grit and toughness.

I would rather have a guy in that role that can fight and can't skate a regular shift than one that can skate a regular shift and can't fight. It worked for us for three years with Hordichuk.

Tarnasky is useless. He not only can't play, he can't fight, either.

I will pass on Belak. He takes dumb penalties, and he is pretty much worthless.

I agree. You guys would've been better off with Gratton. The Blues-Preds games would've been that much more interesting.

I'd love to trade for Kevin Westgarth in the LA organization. He's probably the closest to NHL ready of all the AHLs top enforcers.

That's actually one I hadn't thought of... he could be probably be had for very little.
