Nice. Guy seemed to be a pretty outgoing character later in his career.

Looking forward to it.

It's these types of loyalty jobs that make me think being a Red Wing is the best gig in hockey. Once you're in the club, they'll take care of you for life. Sure, maybe Nyquist and Tatar are missing out on a few bucks early on, but if you stick you're in the brotherhood of employment for life.

A move to appease the middle-aged puck bunnies...

So, is he also replacing Darren Elliot? He's basically the C-Mo for the Wings?

I'd like to see him do player interviews before the game.

"So Zetterberg, do you think you guys should be worried about tonight's matchup?"

"Uh no, Ozzie."

There is no doubt about that and I think a lot of players around the league take note of that as well. Kocur, Fischer, Yzerman, Maltby, Draper, Chelios, Brown, Verbeek, Murphy, Osgood, Downey, Lidstrom and Holmstrom are all former players that have been employed post-retirement by the Red Wings. Also, I know they offered some sort of position to Dallas Drake and I think Tim Taylor held a position for a brief time as well.

That makes a difference to players wanting to play here, I really do believe that.

This is was probably part of the reason Larry Murphy was let go.

There are a lot of Wings fans that adore Osgood and FSD knows it. I always thought he was awkward during interviews but still a pretty witty character. He can't be any worse than Larry Murphy. I hope they didn't dump Darren Eliot, I thought he was doing a good job.

I liked Darren too. He was decent in analyzing stuff post game.

I will miss Murphy and his love for dollar hot dogs, though.

Same here. Eliot is a damn smart cookie for a hockey player. Guy graduated from Cornell with a degree in economics.

I think Ozzie has potential to be good at this. Let's hope he doesn't murph it up.

I talked with a couple people in the Wings organization last week and they indicated that he is done with that job. It is still up in the air on if they will hire someone else to fill that role.
