No offense to BGL, he played a good game tonight... but when Tanguay plays with Laraque most of the game what do you really expect him to do offensively?

Edit: I didn't even read the main post. Makes zero sense why he wasn't shooting in the shootout.

He's not talking about the game...he's basically asking why Tanguay wasn't used in the shootout.

He doesn't need to be so dramatic about it.

Carbo effectively missed the boat tonight on shotout.. A.Kost just had by far his best game of the year, was dominant all the game long, should have been one of the 3 first shooters.. Tanguay, our best player in shotout should have been there too.. Kovalev had nothing to do there, he has been cold, poor all the game long..

A.Kost
Tanguay
Koivu

i made this thread because tanguay didnt participate in the shootout and he should have considering his success so far in this young season.

more of a shot at carbo

If Carbo cant make the simple decisions like a proper human being he should go. I have had enough of his inept decisions. GTFO CARBO and take this gutless Kovalev with you!

Him and Koivu spent the night passing up good shooting opportunities...maybe Carbo was afraid he'd try and pass on the shootout.

i will continue to be dramatic about it until carbo has the balls to bench kovy at least once in a shootout.

the same could be said about koivu but i see koivu competing pretty much every game. therefore i have no problems if he rewards him with a shootout chance. but kovy...cmon now...pp he takes stupid shots that have no chance...5 on 5 he just turns it over...he is only effective on the pk now

It's bad enough Tanguay was not a shooter, but how about Markov being pencilled in?

Ya, I know he scored in Ottawa, but for pete's sake he is a defenseman - not really used to being in on breakaways...........

A Kost has looked good the last several games. He should have been a shooter.

The new #1 line should be:

A Kost - Koivu - Tanguay

Trade Higgins and Pleks...............

Carbo is making the investment to try to snap Kovalev out of his funk. If it works, then we'll ultimately be better off having Kovalev back, in addition to Tanguay et co. So far it hasn't worked too well, maybe, but it's a reasonable gamble to make. For now.

He's sure doing it the most. Still hard to believe some people wanted him to be captain over Koivu.

Carbo sucks for decisions like these. He tends to make the wrong decisions in realtime situations.

Koivu isn't the best guy under pressure, and he makes him shoot last (should have gone first).

Kovalev - a decent choice.

Markov - is a defenseman who has not proven his valor in the shootout yet. If he is to shoot at all put him 4th.

Where was Tanguay? (duh)

Plekanec - Is half - decent in shootouts, and could use a confidence booster at this point. He should have been part of the reserve shooters - I doubt he was.

Underperforming? Oh god, that's the biggest understatement of the world's existence.

He's been out right terrible. There's a reason TheDamned hasn't showed his face around here.

No, that reason being he's been tempa-banned (I think).

Electing to use Markov over Tanguay was puzzling, but I'm willing to give Guy the benefit of the doubt this time. It's not something I hope we see regularly, but I think a coach has to go with his hunches now and then. It's a situation when your gut is right, nobody questions you and says, "Wow, Markov in the shootout, that was foolish"; but when you're wrong, you're going to get called out.

Now, if this becomes a pattern....

If Carbo had any brains at all it would have been;

Koivu first....He seems to fare better when there's no pressure
A.Kostitsyn second... Better than Kovalev
A.Tanguay third... He's been our best shootout player and if I'm not mistaken had shootout success with the flames.

Agreed, the point is that we are in the beginning of the season, if we can get Kovalev to wake up then we are good to go.
