Didn't see this posted anywhere, just heard on NHL Live, that Steen and Colaiacovo for Stempniak from the Blues...

So basically it's Steen for Stempniak.

I'd give the edge to the Leafs right now because honestly I've never understood the hype about Steen. Colaiacovo has some nice upside but he is never healthy. Stempniak is easily the best player in this deal, but it could work out in the future for the Blues if the two guys they get reach their potential.

I hope Carlo didn't injure himself on the way up to Fletcher's office.

Much better trade for TO in my opinion. Carlo was probably hurt just by hearing the news and Steen might develop into something and big "might". While I always was a fan of Stempniak (if that's ever possible...) in his own role. I really don't understand the move for the Blues. 2 big risks for the price of 1 sure and respectable NHL'er? Are the Blues already in tank mode?

I think the Leafs win this trade. I hope Stemp isn't a Habs killer.

I guess St. Louis wants Tavares more than Toronto.

Just odd timing for the trade, with Burke probably coming in a few days. Wonder if he was consulted.

Yeah! Seems to me that it's a tank move already. Stempniak had 13 points in 14 games....

I guess NHL teams don't like to see Toronto in the basement too much....or didn't want them to tank too hard....

Toronto already has enough depth on defense (Kaberle, Kubina, Finger, Schenn, Frogren, Stralman and Van Ryn when healthy) and I was never a big fan of Steen so I'd say Toronto wins this trade.

If Coliacovo somehow can stay healthy this deal could work out well for both teams.

The Blues have more Leafs first round picks on their team than the Leafs themselves.

I think St Louis win this trade. Steen is a great player and has a lot of upside...I think he will explode now. Cola is always hurt but still, he has a lot of talent and you never know with guys like that. Stempniak is good, and Toronto certainly gets a good player back, but I prefer the players St Louis got, personally.

Well true that the potential is much higher on the Blues side, still I don't believe they'll achieve it while Stempiak is no all-star but he'll give you what you're expecting of him.

I'm all TO......until Steen explodes and does a Grabovski out of himself.........

That's the first thing I thought too. Maybe Cliff is trying to save his job?

Toronto got the best player out of the deal Easilly IMO. Stempniak is very underrated. He is a better version of Michael Ryder. Right handed shooter above everything else. exactly what this team needed... oh well... Good deal for the Leafs.

All 3 players have questions surrounding them...where St.Louis gets an edge is they get 2 shots at catching lightning in a bottle. Colaiacovo and Steen clearly needed a change of scenery. Stempniak has had some good stretches in his career but he is a streaky player and a bit soft.

Usually when teams trade 2 guys for 1 they do get the better player...
