Russian internet newspaper "gazeta.ru" reports that Montreal Canadiens have sent an offer to Sergey Zinoviev, Ak Bars Kazan forward, who is having a conflict with the head coach and is not playing because of it. Since there is no agreement between FHR and NHL, he may go to the NHL regardless of his contract status.
Yes, I want to see this happen just to get one back at the KHL. Andrei and Sergei have pretty much ruled out going to the KHL and Markov is too comfortable here to leave. The Habs can only gain from poaching players considering Emelin, Valentenko, Perezhogin and Trunev are in Russia, anyways.
I wonder where the Habs would play him, if so. Surely he's not willing to report to the AHL? But has he really proven himself worthy of more? Doesn't seem at all like the kind of player the Habs need, weird.

If I recall correctly, he is currently suspended as Bruins property, and cannot play for another NHL team. please correct me if I am wrong.
That's what I thought as well.

His refusal to go to the AHL five years ago is a big part of the reason he's not with the Bruins right now, and I doubt that his attitude has changed much. On the other hand, as has been mentioned, isn't he still Bruins property anyway?
he didn't use it in a derogatory sense; get off your high horse
Uh, did you read his post? Everything else in the post that he put "check" next to was a bad thing. Why would his use of "Russian" there be any different?

It was an extremely xenophobic comment.
So you're saying you haven't noticed a bit of a negative trend with a lot Russian hockey players as far as commitment to NHL teams?

I just meant Russians come with contractual problems quite often, that's all. Some of my favorite players have been Russians. And look at my avatar.. an almost Russian!

yeah and North Americans take a pay cut every single time.
How many overpaid Russians are currently in the NHL?
