I don't like that by the linesman there. Dion didn't have his gloves off and O'Donnell starts throwing them. Why does the linesman just stand there and watch. I know Dion doesn't mind the fight but what if it's a guy who doesn't usually drop the gloves?!
A much much much better period from our heroes. The forecheck was amazing, the defense was solid, and Miikka was stellar the few times he was called upon. The Flames utterly and completely dominated the second period in every which way possible. From hits, to shots, to even puck possession time, the Flames owned it every step of the way.
The powerplay was, as usual full of hard work and opportunities, but for the most part unproductive, with the noteable exception of the 2nd PP which was a 5 on 3. Iggy with the fantastic work to drive the net after Dion shot wide (again) and he popped it into the back of the net. I think one of the problems the PP is having is they seemed to have lost their faceoff magic.
A couple things that made me very happy that period. Most importantly the Flames didn't back off after they found themselves up 4-0. They kept pressing the attack and bringing the pressure to the Kings. Bourque, Lombo and Glencross have been stallions all game. Those three have elevated their play tonight, and it's so heartening to see them keep pushing. I personally think that goal on LaBarbara should have counted, but hey up by four goals, I won't complain too loudly.
