We got him to fill the void that Holik left in the lineup, and he has been great. A very solid defensively minded 3rd line C.
Without taking near as many horrible last-minute penalties! He's been a wonderful addition, and adds a certain something on the ice that Holik just never did here in Atlanta.
Marty has been excellent for the Thrashers this year. I wasn't sure what to expect from him (I was assuming the usual, good d, some offensive upside). He has really surprised me this year and I'm glad to have him. Could stand to be a bit more physical, but I say that about nearly everyone on the team.
I think a large part of the reason people are so happy with Reasoner compared to Holik is that Reasoner is making what he should be making( in terms of money) while Holik was GROSSLY overpaid.
That and as already said Holik taking HORRENDOUSLY bad PIMs all the time.
Monsters aside, Reasoner isn't all that great a skater either. He's not lumbering but he's not a good skater by any means.
At least he's putting in a pretty good effort on a somewhat consistent basis. His skating could be better, but I'm happy with him. He's not Holik, and that's all that matters when it came to replacing Holik.
Had to dig this thread back up in appreciation of the effort Reasoner put in this evening. Wow! That was a very nice finish to seal the deal in his homecoming!
