Tarik says a bunch of the guys are skating (limited), including Semin, Feds, Green. No Gordon, Poti, Erskine.

Alzner is skating in full.

Hopefully we'll get Semin, Fedorov, and Green back at some point this or next week.

So is the Post going to give Japers some cash?

Katie continues to just jack his posts everyday.

On the post note, I was happy to finally have another chat again. I actually look forward to those.

They asked Bob McKenzie about the Nylander/Chicago thing today on NHL Live. McKenzie said that the Caps want to move him and Chicago wants him, but they need to move big caps space to do it and any Khabibulin deal is dead as long as he is injured.

He said that the injury might, however, allow Huet some breathing room to play well enough to allow the Hawks the confidence to trade Khabi when he is healthy.

He's day to day with either a groin or a hamstring. We all know around here that there's really no timetable on that.

The Hawks are also reported to have serious interest in Sundin, too, so that's a variable at this point.

remember last year when Sundin wouldn't waive his NTC because he thought part of winning a championship was being on the team from the beginning of the season?

That's the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw him go down. It's a perfect scenario if Habby not seriously hurt (ie a few weeks) and Huet plays well.

-Hawks get confidence in Huet
-Habby's recent history has been solid play => tradeable asset playwise
-We keep Nyls until Habby is healthy enough to be traded which helps us through our injuries.

Of course this forces me to cheer for Huet which is difficult.

Big Ted is Live on CNBC now. He said Washington is almost recession proof because of the change over in administrations. We all know that it is really, the apple never falls far from the <money> tree.

Profits are up 30%. Entertainment is a bit recession proof, we still need our escape from reality even in down times. And then they cut him off to talk about GE and some bs breaking news projections. Then 5 minutes later said bye to ted, who was long gone.

yeah!

"In each of the next three IIHF World Junior Championships, the NHL Network will provide live television coverage of all U.S. games and all games of the medal round - including all quarterfinal and semifinal games, the bronze-medal game and the gold-medal game."

link

Also, the USA WJC U20 team is supposed to be announced on Wed. on NHL Network and on XM204.

Excellent wrt WJC.

And in relation to the closing of the thread mentioned above, I can't believe the trades board Pens-Caps thread hasn't reached closure yet. Must be a record.

Good stuff. Hopefully we'll get to see a lot of Carlson this time around.

Hockey Canada will announce their selection camp invites tomorrow at 12:15p.m. It looks like TSN.ca will stream it.

Laviolette was fired, replaced by...Paul Maurice.

Not sure I agree with the firing, but I haven't been following the Hurricanes closely.

On a different note, I've been trying to follow the Kings' board and LGK, as their fan base is going through a similar rebuild that we went through not too terribly long ago. It's interesting to see some of the same perspectives that were bandied about by us at the time.

Yeah...I don't follow them closely either so I'm kinda miffed as to why they would make the move. I guess the part that makes no sense is bringing back Maurice. He's a decent coach...but I'd think they would want to go forward...not back.

Meh. Hopefully it backfires and the team continues to struggle. With our injury problems...we need the cushion.

Sorry if this was mentioned, but according to the Caps Media Relations blog:

12/03
- Nicklas Backstrom on WNST in Baltimore at 8:45 a.m.
- Karl Alzner on NHL Live, which can be heard on NHL Home Ice on XM, NHL.com and seen on the NHL Network, at 1:30 p.m.
- Brooks Laich on ESPN 980's John Thompson Show at 2:25 p.m.
- Ross Mahoney, the team's director of amateur scouting, on NHL Home Ice (XM 204) at 4 p.m.

Too late for backstrom =\
