Mtl looking for top four D-Man

With Komisarek's injury the need for a top four d-man has become more obvious.

So who's available?

What is your team looking for?

In an idealistic situation, would rather trade prospect and/or picks

I thought about him before, but he plays the wrong side. He would be on the 3rd pairing in Montreal and he gets paid way too much to be a 3rd pairing guy.

Rangers fans want to dump Rozsival on everyone, but there isnt anyone that will take that cap hit.

But the Blues would prob. move Jay McKee

Ryan Whitney (and his purse - hopefully O'Byrne doesn't steal it from him) for a top 6 winger to the Pens?

Bouw...Panthers need a center with top-line potential.

Any chance either Ruslan Salei or Karlis Skrastins would be available from their respective teams?

Probably as close to pure value you can get.

Higgins/Gilbert

It'd have to be a RD, preferably one with a shot.

I don't think they're urgently looking for a defenseman, but if the right one comes available, they'll step up. O'Byrne looked very good before getting Souray'd by Franzen. PB's been good. They'll make do until Komisarek comes back, and re-evaluate at that point.

If I was Colorado's GM Salei would definitely be available. Then we could use some of his salary to re-sign Leopold. Salei played very good for us last year but has been pretty bad so far this season. I really liked the trade when we got him but something is off this season.

The problem is the Habs don't need a big name like that. They already have one of the best 1st pair with Markov and Komisarek who completes each other very well. In fact, judging by how Josh Gorges is playing right now, we already have a #4. The thing is, putting him with Hamrlik leaves Bouillon (a respectable 5th or 6th D) to play with O'Byrne or Brisebois. That's ...risky.

As much as I'd like to have Bouwmester, I really don't want to see Gainey depleting his line-up for an UFA that he knows he won't be able to sign to fix a problem that isn't there.

Doubt Karlis is going anywhere, he's been playing pretty well alongside Bouw and Allen's out for several more months.

I woulden't mind getting Gilbert out of Edmonton...but Higgins is one of our core players...Would have to think about it though.

ian white for a second,

I'm not sure if he's RD, but he can work the powerplay well and is very affordable. fast and a bit fighty lately too.
