Forward: Smyth --> He's a grinder who loves hard work.. sure he doesn't always get that much production, but he works very hard and deserves a nod. I think he gets overlooked because the all-star game is all about scoring and flashy play.

Defenseman: Adam Foote. He may not have the best offensive skills, but he sure can play defense. He's overlooked for the same reason as smyth.

Goalie:For the past couple of years Luongo deserved to go.. and he finally got there this year. So since he finally got the nod, I'd say that the next deserving goalie is Mikka Kiprusoff.. that is if he can keep it up. He has a really good GAA and he's solid.. still young.. and in a couple of years he'll make it there.

Has Brian McCabe ever been to an all-star game? He's no Foote, but better than some already mentioned I would say.

A few of the forgotten:

Manny Legace, Brian Rolston, Brendan Morrow, Dallas Drake, Jozef Stumpel and Dick Tarnstrom.

Zhamnov has gone twice. 94-95 and 01-02.

It is no question Adam Foote.

Like there shouldnt be any other answer to this question.

He's been one of the best defensive defenseman of the past 10 years.

He should have definitely been to one by now.

I dont think ANY of these guys really deserve an allstar nod. Maybe Stumpel a few years ago when he put up good numbers. And MAYBE Tarnstrom this year for simply being the only good Penguin left.

The others are very good players...but AllStars? I dont think so. Legace is a backup goalie for pete sakes! I am a Wings fan, so I know all about Legace's play...but he is a backup goalie.

Names like Zidlicky and Kiprusoff shouldnt fit into this category. I think the question means players that have been around for awhile and have been pretty good players, and have been snubbed a time or 2. Not rookies or 2nd year guys who are having breakout seasons this year.

He played in the '98 game, better remembered for Ken Hitchcock creating the Selšnne-Koivu-Lehtinen - line. Selšnne scored a hat trick, was that game's MVP and that line would later end up dominating at Nagano.

I was hoping Andrew Brunette would go this year, with the game being played in Minnesota and all. He deserves to be there, very underrated player. But they chose Kuba instead...

As far as other teams go, I'd like to see Scott Walker get the nod. Maybe next year (if there is one).

And Foote of course.

Martin Havlat...when Hossa was sick, he should've been the replacement. Instead they found it fitting to give the Bruins 3 allstars as well as a youngstar, and the Sens 1 allstar (Hossa/Redden injured) and no youngstars. I never did get the logic in that...but most definately Havlat. His PPG are among tops in the league.

Based on this year numbers ONLY, I think that the name of Mike Ribeiro should come to mind. He has easily the best set of hands and hockey sense of the entire lineup (not including Kovalev here...) and as a result, he's the Habs point leader as of right now.

Everyone here has mentioned players who are very young, or guys who have been in the league for a short period of time.

I remember watching a game last week, and they mentionned a good veteran player who has never made the allstar game. It took me by surprise, but I can't remember who they said.

You're talking about a guy who gets HOF debates in Adam Foote, yet he might not ever go to an all star game? That's just...wrong.

Morrison deserves the honor as well.
