I know why Toronto does this, but why does Washington?

More importantly, where the hell does Washington come up with the cap space to do this?

A few months of Antropov isn't worth a first round pick, especially not for a team that already has a ton of solid forwards. I don't see the point for Washington. Toronto takes it and runs.

I believe it would be fair value imo, and capspace at the deadline would not be much of an issue as you would only be paying him about 700k

For the Capitals? Um ...... no - they have nowhere near $1.9 million in cap space. Right now, they have maybe $71,000 - and even when Schultz and Clark get healthy, they only have maybe $240,000.

They flat out don't have the cap space without dumping someone.

Um ....... no - maybe you're looking at Cap Central at Hockeybuzz; if so, I haven't updated things there over the last day or so. The actual, really current figures are here at NHLSCAP.

No .

Your link is confusing as it sends you too your site, but when I click on the logo it sends me to CapCentral. I did scroll down and saw the $78 800 but was confused at first. And hey IB, thanks, I use your info regularly to prove my point, however it often disproves what I'm thinking.

Looking at what the Caps are going through right now, I would say Kaberle or Kubina would look alot more attractive. Too bad they don't have the cap space.

A guy like Kubina would look really really good on the Caps blueline.

Can't see how a late 1st is worth more to the Leafs than Antropov. Neither team should do this.

I'm really confused atm for two reasons... 1 being Burke loves big bodies, Antropov fits that description so he will not be moved IMO. 2 Where are you getting that cap space of 780000 left? the link brings you to the Cap Central and it shows Washington having 1,891 mil in cap space because of the people on LTIR... can someone reason for me please?

The Caps were up against the Cap. Then Schultz and Clark went on LTIR, and that money was used to recall Borque, Alzner, Lepisto and Mink, then Mink was sent down, the Caps signed Helmer, and called him up. Got it?

I doubt GMGM ever considers trading a 1st unless he finds some way to get another one to replace it. No deal even if there were cap space to do it (and besides, why do the Caps need more forwards?)

The only guy on Toronto that the Caps could really use is Kaberle (assuming they can dump Nylander or someone to clear up cap space), but why would he want to come here?

While you might think it's accurate, the fact is it's not. The people running that site have no idea how the cap works beyond what anyone here could put together on their own using just a basic understanding of the cap. For years, it took its information directly from my site - in fact, up until a few weeks back it prominently declared that "much of the information comes from this site" in reference to mine ... and even then, still couldn't get it right. [Hint: among many other errors there, Luke Schenn's cap number is not $1,275,000.]

If getting incorrect, half-assed information is good enough for you, fine - keep on using it. However, if you really think it's more accurate than anything I have, .
