Outside observer here-watching the game last night up to the third- while the announcers seemed to be going on about Schneider like he was the Roy or Roberto, I kept "saying yeah, but the measure of a goalie isn't just about not letting in a goal, it's his confidence AFTER he lets in the first goal". Did his confidence seem to take a hit the rest of the game after that first goal(I'd be tempted to say yes seeing the final score)?
I wouldn't say so. I thought Schneider played really well. Sure the Moss goal was somewhat of a weak one, but I think that can be chaulked up to just being inexperienced with NHL shooters. He adjusted during the rest of the game, as in the dying seconds Iggy put a similar shot on goal, and Schneider wasn't fooled.
The Lombardi goal was just a sick pass from Iggy. I pretty sure most were expecting Iggy to shoot.
I think the Canucks have a good one in Schneider.[/QUOTE]
I agree, Schneider looked composed and did pretty well for his first game. Looks like they might need to lean on him as Sanford appears injured too. Bad luck for the nucks in goal but it might give Schneider the chance to turn heads...
