use the search option, I'm pretty sure you'll get your answer, if that's not enough, Google is there to help, not that this has anything to do with hockey or anything.

Jeff Halpern, Matt Schneider, Eric Nystrom, I've read places that Camalleri is. Also read some stuff on google that says Cory Schneider is Jewish.

Not sure about any others..but at least we've got some solid one's in the MLB in Braun and Youkilis.

Camalleri is half Jewish, but since his mother is Jewish, the Jewish law says he is I guess.

I think it's the opposite with Schneider though, I heard his mother is not Jewish, but she converted when she married his dad, which still makes him legit, I don't know, I find religious laws stupid, so to me if you're half Jewish you're half Jewish, if you're full you're full.

It's actually a pretty interesting topic. Here's a Wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who_is_a_Jew%3F

I read about the topic before, I just think the whole idea of who's a Jew being determined by religious leaders is pretty lame.

I have a Jewish friend of mine who once told me that if your mother is Jewish, you're automatically Jewish, apparently it was something along the lines that you know who your mother is, but never sure who your father is, so if your mom is Jewish, you have that blood in you.

Then he said that to get an Israeli citizenship you have to meet the Jewish Orthodox criteria, and that your mother must be Jewish, they also accept converts but only via Orthodoxy, all the other conversions are not accepted, but people who are born Jewish but follow reform or conservative are still accepted, he even said that even if the son is an atheist and does not believe in religion, he's still accepted and granted citizenship, but if he converts to another religion, he's not allowed, I don't know this whole topic is too much.

Back to the subject, here's a list of Jewish people involved in hockey that I know are for sure:

Mathieu Schneider
Michael Cammalleri
Jeff Halpern
Cecil Hart
Garry Bettman

All the other ones are either not known or debatable.

I also know that Bob Nystrom is not Jewish, but might have converted, I'm not sure about this one.

We've had to delete several posts already, so consider this a general warning:

Posts making reference to or stating remarks that are culturally, ethnically or racially offensive/insensitive in this thread will not be tolerated. Everyone should know what is and isn't acceptable - even if made in a joking manner - so there should be no excuses.

Thanks.

I wonder if people would come into a thread like this but about Christianity and say so-and-so is not a Christian like they are about potentially Jewish players...

It always seems like people think it is unbelievable for a player to be Jewish and they must set out and prove they are not a Jew.

well, maybe if people would report it someone might notice. Mods are not omnipresent, and we don't spend our time scouring the boards searching for things that need to be dealt with.

Had no idea Turco was Jewish.

Nystrom converted - actually belongs to a temple in my town. I believe his wife is Jewish which would make Eric Nystrom a Jew.

Grasping at straws aren't we? Who cares what Malkin's parents are... Malkin isn't Jewish as seen by the cross he wears around his neck and the various other tip offs we've seen.

I'm also not sure how much truth there is to this story. if Malkin was born a Jew, he must have had a lot of free time as a child between hockey, school and everything else to learn about Christianity (probably Orthodox), get a firm grasp and then convert.
