No backsies.

Seriously I would trade anything and everything to get heatley on the oilers.

Although I think he has a NTC so even if ottawa was crazy enough to trade him I doubt edmonton is one of his chosen destinations

I agree that Vermette would be a great fit in Edmonton but he is still not the answer for that first line LW.

How's Paul Kariya in St. Louis? That 6Million cap hit looks gross though.
Paul is locked up for 2 years at 6M a year.

I'm sure Havlat is available in Chi town but he's injured too much but he's not doing too bad right now.

I would love to have Kovalchuk here but we gotta be realistic the way this team is going there is no chance in hell he's going to want to play for us unless we turn around and become a contender.

Kovalev would be a very interesting pick up for Edmonton but he's going to want around 7M+ I hear alot that he is too streaky is this true?
I know I watched this thing on tv about Kov and he looked amazing on it, he was shooting pucks where ever the guy in the interview pointed and Kov hit each spot. I think if Montreal is going to part with him we should be interested. It will be interesting to see how Montreal keeps the team they have now next year with the cap going down and the amount of money they have free'd up. Looks to me it's between Kovalev or Taungay unless Koivu takes a discount.

ALSO... I'd love to see Schremp in Toronto to see him get a good amount of ice time but I don't see Burke trading with Edmonton. Offer sheet? LOL Burke's got the money this time round all 10 Milli+ of it.

First lets look at the three players totals since they have played together the last 5 games.
Hemsky 2G 5A +1
Horcoff 2G 6A +2
Penner 2G 2A +2
We could end up with 3 30G scorers if they stay together.
Penner ocuppies space in front and on the boards.

Now a response the standard of the question. Umh! You Know. I think. like.
Radulov. That KHL thing is failing.

Erik Cole cannot play LW at all and Hemsky isn't switching out of RW for Cole.

Robert Nilsson, while he may very well be our best LW he is more suited for the 2nd line.

Ethan Moreau should DEFFIENTLY not be playing on our top line LW position ever again. That is a risky move, I believe even though a good player he should stay at home on the 3rd line.

So I ask you JUST who is the Left Winger that could fit into the Mac T system on the first line left wing position to play with Hemsky and Horcoff!?

Please make it realistic and tell what it would take to get that person.
Personally from an outsiders point of veiw I think the best option for the Edmonton Oilers is to get Antoine Vermette.

I could see somthing like this happening Antoine Vermette for Erik Cole.

lets see. Havlet bad contract and is an UFA after this season and two pieces of junk, For two top prospects and someone who could be the next horcroff---Oilers pass. Oilers could get Havlet for alot less

Like someone mentioned earlier in the thread, Ponikarovsky and Antropov are both available and more than likely will be finding a new home come deadline. Both have major size and can protect the puck well in corners, but Antropov is the only one who really uses it to his advantage to create offence. Ponikarovsky is softer than warm butter, but is still able to make plays from his work in the corners. Both have proven to be capable of a consistant offensive effort and come at a decent cost (cap wise). It's worth noting that Antropov is a pending UFA, which could change the dynamic of the trade.

To EDM:
Alexei Ponikarovsky
or
Nik Antropov

To TOR:
Peckham + pick

Picks/parts may need to be added to even this trade out, but it seems each team gets what they set out for.

I don't know what Edmonton is willing to give up to fill the opening, but the Leafs will be looking for quality youth / picks. Edmonton does appear to be pretty solidified on D for the next several years and have a few prospects knocking on the door as well.

From my perspective, as a non Oilers fan, I see Theo Peckham as expendible at the moment, with Petry, Chorney, and Plante in the system. I'm unsure in what capacity the Oilers see Peckham in their future, but the leafs could certainly make use of a player like him. They're looking for youth, size, defensive ability, and (above all perhaps) toughness. Peckham appears to fit the bill perfectly if he's able to develop into the reliable, hard nosed defender that he projects to become. He seems like just the type of player that Burke should be looking for, especially since he has no issues with fighting and can hold his own just fine.

That's hard to say. He grew up in Calgary so being only a short 3 hour drive or 30 minute flight from the rest of his family could be appealling. Especially when he'd be looking at playing with Hemsky (outside of Alfredson the dropoff on players wouldn't be overly substantial). Hemsky is comparable to Spezza in many areas. Basically Hemskys passing/stick work is better than Spezza but the rest of the overall package goes to Spezza.

It'd be interesting to see if he would waive to be closer to his hometown family. but only one way to know for sure

Can Robbie Schremp play LW? Because there is a severe deficiency of lacrosse/ringette moves on EDM.

I would consider. The problem I have with Vermette is his game is pretty soft, we need to have some toughness coming back.

Penner is a LW, but has some motivational issues. He is more than capable of playing in the top 6, even has upside to be first liner, but just doesn't have the motivation in himself to push for that next level consistently.

I'd like to see Penner as a solid second ine guy with the right linemates.

Necessary evil to make the deal work. As a Hab fan, I think I'd be all over that. Cole will get his nose dirty, and while I'd rather send you a softer player, Higgins seems the obvious candidate to move.

Personally, I'd ship Begin instead of Dandenault (Dandy at least has wheels and is versatile in a really poor kind of way). But that's just me.

id do that in a second.
Gagner is way too slow and small. he's never going to be fast. Grebs is a turnover monkey, Chorney looks like a solid prospect and the 1st is a crap shoot as usual... for a 50 goal scorer to get into scoring position 5-on-5 / PP with Hemmer? automatic 50 goals.

cross seam pass to Heater on the PP?
christ, its money in the bank.
