Shaky times for Russia's Kontinental Hockey League (retitled)

I'm pretty sure I havent seen this anywhere on the rangers board here because if it was fans would be all over this...

It is posted on the Trade Rumors board:

According to a radio station in Ontario, Jagr is trying to leave the KHL and come back to the NHL. The Devils are the rumored team right now that he would go to. It is believed he'd take 1.5-2 million for the rest of the season I'm assuming.....

If this is true, Glen Sather must jump all over him

Holy crap. I'd cry if he went to NJ. Definitely worth it at 1-2 mil...

i doubt he will come to us but i thin kthere is a better chance of him going to nj than nyr because why would he sign for less now thna in the summer? i think when sather passed on him in the summer their relationship ended

thats just my thoughts though obviously

Jagr not getting enough attention over there? He needs to realize he's an NHL player but no longer the best...still very good though. I always figured he went to the KHL because he wanted to be the best player on the ice every night.

I love how Debby fans are thinking they can get Jagr to sign with them for bargain basement prices.

Love it. Just love it. I needed some laughs.

Complete garbage. Did eklund say this on radio? He has us apparently desperately trying to trade for Bouwmeester too. If Jagr were to come back one would think it would be back to the Rangers. Why Jersey who is missing their starting goaltender till March? And Jagr's relationship with the team is not over as Renney has said Jagr calls every now and then and asks how Dubi is doing and the team. If this rumor is even remotely true he'd come back here.

I know thats just sarcasm but...

This team needs Jagr badly, they need a boost and he can definitely provide it. He's not the same player he was a few years ago but he can still light the lamp and make things happen. You have to give it a shot.

With the lack of scoring on this team, I'd take Jagr back in a second at 1.5 - 2.0 million.

Also strip Drury of the C and give it back to Jagr

I dont believe Eklund had anything to do with this one. They said it was on the coach's segment of the show

Jagr coming back and playing for the Devils would be like a nightmare.

Jagr coming back and playing for the NYR would be like Christmas morning.

I'm not going to get too excited about this until more proof surfaces but it is no suprise to me that he wants out of the KHL. I'm sure the loss of Chereponov has weighed heavily on him.....combined with the fact the maybe that league over there didn't turn out to be what was promised to him.

He wanted to play for the Rangers his whole career, once he got here he turned the franchise around and made it respectable again....he never wanted to leave in the first place. Jagr deserves to play for the Rangers and the Rangers deserve a real superstar like Jagr.

the fact that it's rumoured that he wants to go to the Devils is all you need to know about how credible this "rumour" is because who when they have their choice of teams would ever choose the Devils!!!

Anyone ever play "telephone" when they were a kid?

Here's were this ridiculous rumor got its start:

Quote:
Shaky times for Russia's Kontinental Hockey League, reportedly due to the steep fall in the worldwide price of oil. Russian clubs have been known to pull guys out of the lineup and not honor deals (ex-Bruin Byron Dafoe learned the hard way). If it came down to Jaromir Jagr (now of Omsk Avangard) wanting back to the metro New York area, only the Devils would have the cap room for him.
http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_r...il?eref=fromSI

Yes, there are clubs in the KHL that are in financial trouble. But Avangard Omsk is not one of them. The team is sponsored largely by the Omsk regional government. There have been rumors that they wouldn't get as much government funding next season (because the current governor may be on his way out) but Roman Abramovich (you may have heard of him) said last week that he would finance the team going forward. So Jagr doesn't have to worry about not getting his pay check.

Hey, we didn't write the news article. Might as well fantasize while we got the chance.

Thank you for clearing up exactly where this started. Jagr's not coming back to the NHL, at least not this season.

Abramovich has the money to pay him and so long as he gets paid what he's due (which is far more than he would get if he returned to the NHL) this isn't going to happen.

this is an interesting part of that rumor: "It is believed he'd take 1.5-2 million for the rest of the season I'm assuming". The first part makes it look legit, like people are talking this is what it will get done, then the writer states he's assuming this is what it would take to get it done as if it's based on nothing.

Eh, if Jagr wanted to come to the NHL and was willing to take that kind of money, I think that Rissmiller would be in HFD (I've lost track - where is this guy now?) with Prucha while not taking up any cap space on the Rangers to make room for him.

Yes, it is very possible because of still no transfer agreement. However NHL rules will force him to pass through waivers, so he won't be able to just sign with the team of his liking.
