Just let yourself go. OK? Can we finally just get past this?

mini pk rant:

i had yet another staff let me know that he will be leaving my department and moving to corporate headquarters in CT to pursue internal auditing (i must be a terrible manager - my staff are leaving hand over fist!). this is a pretty good opportunity for him and as he is young, lives at home and has no gf, so it seems to be logical move for him. i, of course, told him i was happy for him and sincerely congratulated him, but told him he was really going to be missed on and on...

...well, what does the kid do? he shows up late every day, he is sneaking out early. he spends rediculous amounts of time socializing. he got in a car accident (fender bender) two nights ago and left work yesterday at noon b/c he felt sick and wanted to go to the ER. he has yet to come in to work today b/c he has a contusion (ie, BIG bruise) on his knee which I overheard him tell another staff he got playing basketball.

I have a feeling, I"m going to have to pull him aside and tell him to get his **** together. He's only hurting himself. He isn't even leaving the firm - he is transferring from accounting to internal audit. Don't burn bridges, buddy.

Ok, I'm done....for now.

That's too open for me.

There's a line between goofing around and acting out on repressed sexual urges.

That image clearly violates that line, and thus violates us all.

the receiver of the grab is DEFINITELY roy. 100% positive. i'm a fan of roy. since 04.

i believe the other two are just his buddies, but the one on the left looks a lot like stafford. i'm pretty sure it's not stafford b/c the eyebrows are too normal.

Job updates:

Many calls from recruiters.

Much outpouring of support from various and sundry ex-coworkers, with some written recommendations that really touch me in a weird and uncomfortable way. I don't deal well with praise.

A few actual phone interviews, one resulting in a request for rates for consulting/contracting -- but I've never worked in that capacity before, so I really don't know what I'm getting into there. My former boss (a real good and decent man -- I've followed him through 3 jobs) recommends that I rate myself out at mid one-hundreds/hour. Again, I don't know how the consulting game goes, and I'm really not thrilled at the prospect.

One more interview tomorrow at this time, which I am immensely psyched-up for. This position would be in the San Jose/San Francisco area, though ... so we'll see. Let's not kid ourselves, though ... of course I'd take it.

The consulting / contracting rates can be confusing as it all depends on the area. My wife charges her contracting rates based upon where the company she's working for is located ie $100hr for DC Metro, $125 for NJ/NYC but $75 for Dallas/Miami with $50 for San Antonio.

The issue she runs into is that the amount of work varies and its hard to keep up with as some companies will cut back on contractors due to sales slowing but others will increase their need for contractors as they're cheaper than full salaried employees. Then her issue is the division of labor as she doesn't want to burn any bridges.
