Laviolette is a great coach, I would love to have him. That being said, he would absolutely not fit in this organization. The Canes are one(if not) the only team(s) in the league that are coached not to retaliate, not to fight, and overall a less physical game. Now I don't know if this comes down from management, or if its personally Laviolette's style. I know he's been quoted multiple times, stating that he put in a strict no-fighting rule. I remember watching some segment before on it for like 20 minutes...sadly I can't remember. Either way, one of the less penalized teams in the league. The problem with this style of play, is other teams take advantage of it and absolutely annihilate your players, which the Hurricanes have not seen a shortage of.
I really think he is a great coach however, I would love to see it workout.
Also, just to reference for fantasizing sake..
Recently became the most winningest American coach of all time. (Wiki)

God Laviolette better come here. I am so sick of Stevens. He can definitely whip some of the guys on our team into the right mind-set, ie. Hartnell with his boneheaded glove play yesterday. Not much needs to be done, but I think we will succeed more with Laviolette than Stevens, and I think most will agree. But maybe im wrong.
Man, Rutherford and Maurice are like Snider and Clarke. I don't know what Rutherford is thinking. I got to see many games when Maurice coached the Canes and it was some of the worst hockey I ever had to suffer through. Even my wife, who knows hockey marginally couldn't stand his coaching. The PP was so predictable; the team would send the puck hard into the offensive zone, hoping to forecheck to get it, only to see the opposing team acquire it and send it out time and time again. Maurice is a great guy, very funny dry sense of humor, but my goodness, what has he ever done? The team made it to the Stanley Cup finals with a team that lplayed decent at the right time while not having to play the two top seeded teams in the conference before getting obliterated by Detroit.
With the hiring of Maurice, the Canes must want to put themselves in the running for Tavares. What a horrible and huge step backwards for the franchise. Maurice is probably the worst coach that was available. The guy's a hack and knows next to nothing about coaching. I guarantee that another player's revolt happens under his watch......
