Should be interesting...I'll be keeping my eye on Avery for this entire game, he's got to have Iginla and Phaneuf pissed off by now

Check out tsn front page story

Avery to reporter: "I just want to comment on how it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds. I don't know what that's about. Enjoy the game tonight."

OMG I want to see this game.

Judging by the comments leading up to this game, I don't think Iginla really cares about Avery's comments about him earlier this year. Phaneuf probably is pissed, but hopefully he and the rest of the team keep their head in the game and focus on getting the 2 points tonight. The best way this team can deal with Avery is to not make him a factor and make him as effective tonight as he has been for his team this year.

I expected the "sloppy seconds" comments to come out on the ice during warmups or during the game, but the fact that he actually took it to the media just shows why even his teammates are embarassed to have him there. And these comments came minutes after his coach had just scolded the media for making a big deal out of Avery being a distraction, and looking for angles that aren't there, etc.

The TV ratings for this game just spiked. Avery got a Master's degree from the Muhammad Ali school of publicity. He doesn't care if you love him or hate him, but you will watch him. I live in frikking NY and I'm going to be watching this game, the first Flames game I've watched all year. Avery's a perfect villain, and he's good for the game. What he does has nothing whatsoever to do with the game, but it gets people talking and watching, and you can't argue with that.

Damn...I wanted to see Dion "tune him in".

Oh well maybe now this d-bag will have no choice but to shut his mouth.

Man, i was really looking forward to Avery getting 'Phanuefed'. Then, after he picks his missing body parts up off the ice, Iginla giving him a nice pounding to show him how "boring" he is...

Just jumped on the net and what do I see? More **** from Avery!

Part of me is happy he's suspended but then I wanted to see him get owned by Phaneuf!!!

Oh well hopefully we put this aside and grab two more points.

GO FLAMES GO!!!

Really the fact that Avery now will not be playing Dallas should be more focused tonight. Though we don't have to worry about Dion going out of his way to get Avery. Really that it is a plus plus.

I figure this is going to be a close game, one should never count out the Stars....just ask the Wild.

Bad rebound control by Kipper, even worse defensive zone coverage by the players in front of him...

Ok before we start a quick word on Avery. This guy is a cancer and should not be an ambassador of the greatest game on the planet. His classless comments today only enforce my belief that he should never have been allowed to continue in the league. He said what he said for the sole purpose of creating a controversy, and was excessively successful at that. Even his own team is happy he's gone. Now that really says something, doesn't it? And that's all the attention I will give that little worm, and more than he deserves too. On to Hockey!!

A solid Flames period. Good forecheck, fairly solid defensive zone coverage, and high energy. Especially by Bourque and Primeau. They also continued with the smart neutral zone play, denying space and time. Passing left something to be desired, and Bertuzzi, you lazy bugger. Start putting some actual effort in, please!!! The one and only time the Flames got caught running around in their own zone, chasing after the puck the Stars made them pay for it. You simply cannot blame Miikka for that one.

The penalty kill was, again absolute perfection. The Stars couldn't carry the puck in, so they dumped and chased. Of course, they couldn't chase fast enough and out the puck went time and time again. Again, our offensive chances on the PK were stellar, both of them. I love Primeau for that. Our PP didn't have time to get going, with only 16 seconds left in the period.

Shots ON net. I stress the ON part. Yeah it's nice to put pucks at the net, but you can't score unless they are on target, which they haven't been. I'm looking at you Dion. You have a devestating shot, but it's not scary if it goes over the net EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!! Perhaps a bit of work on accuracy would be advised!

Slow GDT... I guess people ARE upset that there's no Avery!

From what I saw it looked like our Flames had all the jump...
Here's hoping for a PPG to start off the second!

I really feel bad for Langkow, what did he do to deserve getting stuck out with there consistently with Bertuzzi, Moss, Phaneuf and Giordano?

Its seems like Keenan is just trying to keep all his weak defensive players on one line and Langkow gets the task of carrying them all.

Someone should teach him to master the Chris Pronger rocket just a couple inches off the ice.

As usual. Phaneuf looks lost out there once again, though he usually does.
