East upgrades

Does it surprise anyone else here that it's pretty much only the Atlantic conference that's bulking here? I love the fact that we got Kovalev, but it's seems that it might not be enough with how much the rest of the teams are being upgraded.

I think that Gainey will notice this too and try and make another big move. Any thoughts on who we should try and get? I know some people say O'neil and but I don't think that he could help us all that much. Where would we try and play him 2nd line instead of Dagenais, or third line. I don't see him playing 4th line. I also saw someone suggest Grier, I don't know how hard it would be to get him but I would like to see a Grier Begin Langdon line. Any other suggestions?

for one thing i think you mean north east division but other than that.. i think we should get another top 6 winger to play with ribs and zednick/ryder (im not entirely convinced we should have ribs and ryder together for the playoffs due to their lack of experience in playoff hockey and in terms of defensively basically)
and a 3rd line center even a guy like eastwood would work well IMO
and maybe a brendan witt type of guy

Well BG traded away prospects/picks for kovalev, so he must be planning on trading some players that are currently on the lineup to mkae room for him.
I"m thinking he's looking to trade Perreault, and maybe someone else or a pick for someone with a little bit of grit. I"m not quite sure as to who he may be looking into, and I doubt anyone else would either, as it doesn't seem like anybody saw the Kovalev trade soming.

It's not only the Atlantic division. Every playoff team except the Islanders (who are in the Atlantic division) have made moves.

Toronto - Leetch
Ottawa - Bondra
Philly - Zhamnov, Burke, Markov
TB - Sydor'
Boston - Gonchar, Nylander
NJ - Kozlov
Montreal - Kovalev

Among that group of players, Kovalev would likely be my number one choice for Montreal. He has the capabilities to be a dominant offensive force--something Montreal desperately needs.

That's not to say the Habs have picked up the best player of the group, but they've traded for the player that fits the team the best.

I don't necessarily expect another deal to be made. I think this one was made because Kovalev was being sold off fairly cheap and Balej was expendable. Witt would be a fantastic addition but he'd cost an arm and a leg given his contract, age and the style he plays.
