The following are Rivermen tidbits from PJ Star:

"RIVER READINGS: One of the players the Blues have been trying to sign for the Rivermen, right wing Ryan Bayda, has accepted a tryout invitation to St. Louis’ NHL camp. Bayda spent 70 games (5 goals) in the NHL with Carolina last season. He had 7 goals, 10 assists in just 21 games with AHL Albany in 2007-08.
...

The Blues have also invited veteran NHL defenseman Darryl Sydor. ...

Sources say Rivermen team bus driver Jay Rennau has resigned to take a job driving on country singer Brad Paisley’s national tour.
...

Manny Legace led the Peoria Rivermen down the stretch last spring. Now the veteran goaltender, an NHL All-Star in 2008, has signed a tryout deal with Atlanta, which is parent club of AHL Chicago. This kind of contract often signals the player could end up with the AHL club.
...

Free agent veteran Rivermen winger Jeff Cowan has signed with Buffalo, and will head to AHL Portland.
...

The Blues opened their annual prospects tourney in Traverse City, Mich., on Saturday and it runs through Thursday.
...

St. Louis opens its NHL training camp with physicals and testing on Friday and Saturday and practices on Sunday.
...

Anaheim has found a place for its AHL farm team — which was stranded when its affiliation deal with now-defunct Iowa fell apart over the summer. The Ducks will send most of their players to San Antonio, which is NHL Phoenix’s farm club and operates in Peoria’s division."

Two Updates

EDIT:

Ryan Bayda has backed out of his PTO with The Blues and is attending Pittsburgh Penguins camp.

Ryan Bayda signed his PTO with The Blues and is expected to play this season for The Rivermen. See previous post.

Derek Armstrong signed a two-way deal with St. Louis and is also expected to play in Peoria.

The Rivermen's roster should look fairly decent, but with several young players and rookies.

The Central Division looks even tougher this year.
