Does Lidstrom hit 1000 points...

Does Lidstrom hit 1000 career points this season. He's off to a slow start, but usually comes on around the middle of the season.

He's sitting at 953 career points, currently has 15 in 24 games this year, so the goal is 47 points in 58 games, which give him a season total of 62 points.

What are your thoughts...

He should be able to, if not, next year, he will. He's signed through that season, no ?

I don't think he will, he will fall just short I believe, probably in the 980's.

I hope he does it tho.

Yes - Lidstrom is pretty durable and he's playing on one of the most talented PP's in the league. It's entirely possible.

Nice optimism here lol.

Follow up question, if he does get over 62 points, does he get the Norris as well.

I think he will get at least 62 points this season, but I dont think he will win the Norris either way.. He has a lot of catching up to do if he wants to win it..

Well, even though some posters are exaggerating Lidstrom's fall from grace quite laughably, he's actually starting to look a lot like the Lidstrom that we have all come to know. His defensive stickwork has been very Lidstrom like the past few games, and with that PP and offensive talent he will get his points.

Lidstrom is still very, very much in the Norris debate, and i wouldn't be shocked at all if he deservingly won it.

He will be very close to the 1,000 pt mark by season end, whether that be short or over.

A lot of catching up? He's only 6 points and +7 behind the top lead in d-men, 2 or 3 games can easily change that, and he of all people can pull it off.

He's on pace for 59 points this year which would see him fall 3 points short of 1000... but I think he'll pick up the pace.

I think he'll do it this year.

I'm not talking about just stats..

I'n terms of overall play, there are at least 4-5 d-men in the league who has been clearly better than him so far.. Can Lidstrom still win the norris? Of course, I'll never question that..

No question, he's still great and only 47 pts away, is nothing seeing what he's done in the past.

I don't know. I think this year, Dan Boyle is going to win it, but if Lidstrom steps up his game, to usual Lidstrom, then it's not out of reach.

Boyle will never win the Norris... he doesn't play near the same defensive leve as Lidstrom and a few more points won't override that. It's either Weber or Chara I think , this year, if Lidstrom doesn'y pick it up.

Yep. If not this season, it'll be next season. The man's never injured so it shouldn't be a problem.

He'll get it I think. If he doesn't, I wouldn't be surprise if it was only a couple of points short.

I think he'll get around 70 points and beat 1000 by a slim margin.
