Josh Gratton Waived

Per TSN.ca, Josh Gratton was waived today.

Guess Riley is ready?

This was in today's Inq.:

Breakaways. Danny Briere (groin) and Riley Cote (torn abdominal muscle) will practice today and could return to the lineup tomorrow. If they do, Jon Kalinski and Josh Gratton will probably be sent to the Phantoms. .

Me too. Especially after seeing that long ass fight he was in last Friday. It'll be awesome to see Danny and Riley back though!

I do agree that skills-wise gratton is a little better, but I don't think he is big enough to be given the "enforcer" title. I mean I know Cote did not do so well last year against him, but imagine gratton vs. Parros from anaheim. He would get killed, as he did against laraque in montreal!

Should've waived Asham. Gratton and Cote together would be awesome.

Why would they waive Asham? He play's an important role on the team.

I liked Gratton too. Couldn't they have just sent him back down to the Phantoms?

Anyways, first task for Riles: Punch Joni Pitkanen the **** out!

while that statement's debatable, just ask yourself if it's more important and complete than what gratton what doing.

Is what Asham brings more important than what Gratton brings. Yes, absolutely. There's a reason why Gratton was waived, and Asham wasn't.

The issue with Gratton vs. Asham is that if Asham gets sent down, he would have to go on recall waivers on the way back up and if he was to be claimed, the Flyers would have half of his cap hit for six years. The difference between Gratton and Asham is not great enough to take that risk.
