Eklund: EDM / NYR deal

"The Edmonton Oilers. Something is definitely up as I continue to hear rumours of a MAJOR deal between the Oilers and Rangers. I always just assumed this deal was tied to Sundin, but it appears that there are two deals being discussed: "One that would occur should the Rangers sign Mats, and one that would occur if they don't."

lets see alot of sundin news coming out today.and who would you like from edmonton and who would we trade.

I'll take it with a grain of salt, but I would love to see the Rangers get Erik Cole. I've been talking it up for a few weeks, but I think he'd be a great addition. He just needs to get some confidence back, but he's the kind of power forward on the wing we need.

An eklund rumour, how delightful.

"Ya know guys, I was gonna have a ham and cheese sandwich today, but i've just gotten word that the deli down the block is offering up pastrami at a discount, but only if you supply your own mustard. If the pastrami is not fresh the whole thing may be called off which will then get the ham & cheese back into the mix sans the mustard."

Wow. Edmonton. Hmmm, you think by any chance Alex Hemsky could be who we are after? A good young winger that fits the fast paced temp we are supposed to have. He's fast, can score and might do well with Gomez.

I wonder what it would take to get him. I wouldn't be opposed to trading Rosi, Cally and a 3rd? Is that fair?

Edit, : Any chance we can get St. Louis instead from Tampa? They must know by now that those playoffs they wanted are not going to happen.

For Ales Hemsky? Their best player? The guy who has 9 goals and 28 points? You better not post this on the Oilers board, unless you enjoy being ripped apart verbally by an entire fan base.

Cause once in a blue moon the jerk is right. And I have to say I have a feeling he may know something here. I just hate how vague all of his 'rumours' are. Like someone inside is feeding him info but not all the info and he assumes the rest.

Who knows, just hope Mats makes up his mind soon, then we can all go back to killing Renney

I didn't delete this one, but you guys have to keep it on topic. No more Eklund opinions (as funny as some are), just discuss the rumor.

Please discuss the terribly concocted rumor and not the source.

Just because it's Canada, doesn't mean the salary cap doesn't apply.

If the thread is about the a rumor from a hack source, why shouldn't people be allowed to discuss the source of the rumor?

Eklund threads shouldn't exist. It's no different than someone making a random thread here about what they think might happen.

Because it's been done.

Talk about the rumor, not the source.

And if you feel they should not exist, ignore them and they don't exist.

Because the general opinion of Eklund is pretty well known. Does that mean it needs to be brought up over and over again?

If you don't like the thread, don't bother reading it.

Not unless you wanna see King Henrik sporting the Copper and blue, or you wanna give us Dubi and Staal.

We have too many NHL forwards I doubt we make any trade with the Rangers as we need to move 2 or 3 bodies for one body.

I was confused when we shipped out Jessiman about this too so maybe you can clear this up for me.

What exactly does it mean for future consideration? Who gets to control what is giving up in the future to make it. Is it based off incentives with Goals and all that?

A Ranger/Edmonton "major deal". I wonder if it's as big as last year's Jagr trade to Edmonton
