The Chad Kilger trade was the closest I could think of. Traded on a Tuesday, expected to either play that Tuesday or Wednesday.

I am pretty sure that Wade Belaks 1st game as a Panther was against the Leafs. But I think the trade was made the day before.

Not sure that's happened in the modern era Biggzy. I do know that back in the early days of the league, it was not uncommon to see players traded between periods of a game. There was at least one example of players switching dressing rooms between games (although I cannot remember any off-hand)

EDIT: Good catch Anod and Bure. Forgot about the deadline deals with Belak and Kilger last season.

Doug Weight was traded to Edmonton from New York for Esa Tikkanen right before the 2 teams played back in like 94 or something. He literally walked to his new team haha.

As for tonight's game, like a lot of others are saying, I expect us to lose and keep losing. This team loves streaks, both winning and losing.

EDIT-http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpag...50C0A965958260 There's a link that I found with some background on the story.

Thanks for the info guys. It would be interesting if we were to make a trade today but I guess its not going to happen.

Yeah, Belak came that same day, and actually did play. I think the game, vs. the Leafs, was the day after.

At least for the present, Clemmensen is playing better than Vokoun. You could look it up.

I submit that Anderson is better than Brodeur because his stats are better than Brodeur's before Broduer got injured. Well, at least at the moment Anderson is better, which is all that matters, right? Once the goalie's stats and play decline you can just trade him for another young one who can get on a hot streak and once that one declines you can trade again and again and again. Sounds like a plan to me!

belak was acquired the day before the leafs played the panthers...they were staying on fort lauderdale beach, florida guy went to pick him up to head to sunrise, called on cellphone and told 'turn around, go pick up kilger.' got to hotel, kilger was nowhere to be found. then belak and driver got caught in 595 traffic...anyway, belak played against his old team next night..

also, this was before my time, but bill lindsey tells a story of the day florida put him on waivers; he goes through the morning skate then told he was picked up by montreal -- who was playing florida that night.

billy says he picked up his gear, walked down the hall and played against his old teammates that night. says he messed with peter worrell something fierce that night...

PS: ottawa media all over jay today after the morning skate...nothing new was said...it'll be more, well probably much more, of the same when we go to edmonton tomorrow night...

Thought about giving you a ring, but I have to put Ivy to bed, she's had a loooong day. Maybe if it's not on in the next few...

I've been thinking that for a long time. I'd rather put Stewart there.
