about time we made a move...probably more of a desperation move by JF after losing out to bruins, but oh well

1st 2004, 2nd 2005, Kondri, Immonen -- plus a condition draft pick will come back to Toronto based on something like games played or something.

Kondratiev Immonen and 04 first round and 05 second round. High price. Seems more expensive than Gonchar but Leetch is signed through next season.

Jr looks like he was hosed but if leafs win the cup he will look like a genius. Quinn playing Berehowsky with McCabe was a giveway that the leafs were going to trade for a number 2 d man. That makes Kaberle the number four with Klee the number 3.

Lets face it it is a huge upgrade from Berehowsky. Had to go for it.

This is confirmed by NHL Network.

Good deal in the sense that we didn't have to give up any of our top guys to get him (Stajan, Colaiacovo, Steen, Antropov, etc) but IMHO I think I still would have preferred Gonchar. Still a decent deal though. Leetch should still be a significant upgrade over Pilar, Berg, and (for now IMHO) Kaberle.

Wow, instead of overpaying for a 29 year old #1, we overpay for a 36 year old #2. Great?

I don't mind losing Kondratiev, as Cola / Hedin / Bell should be able to step up soon enough and help us out next year.

However, it is Immonen and the picks that hurt us the most. We have very, VERY little depth at the forward position and those picks ensure that we'll have a hard time picking up new prospects. I wouldn't have thrown in the 1st, kondratiev + immonen + 2nd would have been ample.

If Leetch can help out as much as some people believe he can, this deal could turn out well. As of right now however, I feel we are overpaying and I would have MUCH rather overpaid for Gonchar then for Leetch.

I hope we pick up at least one more depth defenseman before the 9th, who knows how 36-year old Leetch will will endure in the playoffs.

Nice to see no blue chippers are moved.

Kondratiev and Immonen will be good players.

But we also get a "conditional draft pick" in return. It better be a high pick.

Indeed. A 36 year old guy making over 6 mill for 2 good prospects, a 1st, and a 2nd.

The Leafs got owned. Sather is doing really well with his deals, IMO.

Guys...let's not rush to mourn Jarkko Immonen just yet.

However, we now have no 1st or 2nd or 4th or 6th round picks this year, and no 2nd next year. Could be a lean draft for Toronto

TSN and the NHL network are now reporting that Toronto also receives a conditional draft choice. No details on what pick it is or what the conditions are however.

I believe that Gonchar is signed through to next season as well.

Leetch is the older player, but might warrant a higher price given that his defensive skills are far stronger, and that he has experienced a successful cup run.

Ouch those picks were high but leetch as a number 1-2 defenseman which we needed so im not that mad.Just sad to see jarkko go.Sather made out pretty well in this deal compared to his other ones. But you have to take in that we didn't give up a premier prospect and gave up the pick in a weak draft.2nd in 05 hurts though

Think of it this way - Immonen and Kondratiev were players drafted in late rounds that turned into assets to help bring us Brian Leetch/

I agree, I was watching the Flames game on TSN and then I see the trade update and my jaw dropped for about 15 seconds. I think we gave up too much. It seemed more out of desparation than anything else.

Talk about buckling under pressure from the fans...

I think it's a bad trade, and I like Leetch. That conditional pick better be a first rounder.
