Your Input

Hey all,

My friend and I are starting a website for his hockey shop, and we're coming up with a couple ideas to help both potential customers and normal hockey players to get general knowledge.

Aside from a wizard that helps new players find equipment suitable for themselves, what other things would help you? In store availability of equipment?

We're also thinking of a weekly feature where customers can send in general questions about hockey items and one of the employees will answer it for everyone to read and discuss.

Any input is welcome and appreciated!

I like your idea of having a weekly column. Not only could you post that online, but you might try and get it put in a monthly hockey magazine with a little excerpt with the hockey shop's web address on it.

How about a "How to..." beginners' guide to Hockey. How to tape sticks, skate, shoot, tips from the pros etc etc?

I'll second a weekly column. Maybe even have a couple sections... on-ice techniques, off-ice training and diet, equipment care, etc.

In-store stock availability is nice, as is listing the price... a lot of local stores don't do that, which is a pet peeve of mine.

If you're going to carry goalie equipment and make custom orders for customers, it's always nice to have a gear customizer application handy on the site. Like http://www.customgoalieequipment.com...ustomizer.html or http://www.cyberteks.net/flash/custo...customizer.asp. Most manufacturers have these flash apps. Goalies are a bit insane when it comes to their gear, it's their baby and it has to be perfect.
