Henrik Lundqvist would like Mats Sundin to be a Ranger

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/ho...s_sundin_.html

So how much clout does the teams best player have?

"He would add a lot, in a lot of ways, not only scoring. He's a top player," Lundqvist said. "He's a great leader and great player and person, so if he chooses to play more hockey, it would be fun if he chooses New York"

Henke has shown some frustration lately...

On the salary cap? Not much.

But he does have a voice... and is clearly the Ranger who is this teams star and future..

Do you think Sather takes this into account. Not just this situation, but in general when the teams stars speak out. Its not like Henrik is a loud mouth media hog...

Someone asked him a question and he answered. Not like he called a press conference to let everyone know how he feels.

I think Sundin goes to Vancouver cause we cant afford him unless we make trades as well. Isnt the holiday deadline for trading soon?

Roster freeze is dec 19. Sundin has set himself a dec 15 soft deadline to make a decision.

lol, what's hank supposed to say? "No, I'd hate to have him on the team. We can do fine without him."

If this isn't our franchise players saying "get me some help" I don't know what is.

Isn't Sundin supposed to make up his mind next week anyway?

He could have said yeah he's a great player and could help us but I believe in the guys we have here now. I think when he mentioned how he could help offensively it was kinda obvious what he's saying.

Vancouver? Well, the direction the $CAN is heading may get VAN reconsider their bid or even amend it. I think the stars are lining up for NY. After All who in the world would want to retire there when Broadway is available

I'm not saying he's coming here to NY even though thats what I want to happen. But I would be very very surprised if he picked Vancouver.

Who knows. If we were comfortably under the cap i'd say yes, he's coming here. But that means slats has to get rid of more tha just Prucha and Rismiller. Easier said than done.

I would be too. The Vancouver offer has veen on the table for several months now, and it's been clear nearly the whole time that they're the only team that will be able to pay him that much. If he wanted to go there, he would have done it already.

Then again, given what the Skanks just went through with CC, who the heck knows...

Is this even noteworthy? I agree with those who pointed out that this is just Henke responding to a question posed by a journalist. I'd like Sundin here, but I don't think this quote is worth reading anything into

That would be a lie. Even on this board very few believe in Dawes & Co.
The question I've got is can Sather release a players to get cap space, if no team wants to trade for them?

He could easily pull a Renny and say "I like the team we have"

Unlike Henrick, Renney is paid to lie among other things.

Arrival of Sundin would benefit Lundy as that would turn the team Swedish thanks to ambivalence of American leaders such as Drury and Gomez. Tragic death of Cherepanov may delay the inevitable Russian dominance this team was supposed to see.
