Game 29: Flames @ Red Wings - 5:30pm MT - TSN (HD) & the Fan 960

Accordingly, the Flames skipped the morning skate in favour of a few more hours of shut-eye. It's a good thing Calgary won the first two games of its four-game excursion because the odds are stacked against the Flames returning home with anything better than a .500 record on the trip.
Quote:
Ty Conklin makes his second straight start between the pipes for the Wings while the absence of a game-day skate the identity of the Calgary starter a bit of a mystery. This might seem like an opportune moment to slide in backup Curtis McElhinney, but it seems that for every five such opportunities, Miikka Kiprusoff gets another starting assignment four times.

Tonight's game is as close to a garenteed loss as there is....so they will win....maybe? Seriously thinking about this game is giving me a headache.

Well I hope a guaranteed loss can turn to a win! I am hoping they can pull it off to make a .750 road trip against some great teams. Early start though for us out on the west coast, odd to have the game finish when it normally starts.

No Kipper tonight:

Poor Snoil, I know he wanted to see Kipper live tonight in the Joe.

GO FLAMES!!!!

Wow, McElhinney to play against Detroit.... hmm I dont know how I feel about that but if he can pull it off then that is one hell of a confidence booster. Maybe the team will play even better when they know Kipper wont be there to catch a few of the silly mees ups the Flames will give up.

I'm pretty confident about McE playing against Detroit. Last time I saw him agains the Wings, he actually played very well.

Me too - in the few starts we get to see him in, he always seems solid. If anything, the rest of the team seems to second guess everything they do defensively.

Here's hoping the Falmes can get a bounce or two their way and show that they can play with the best!
Go FLames!!!

The flames are definitely the underdogs tonight.Which would make taking this game at the joe with our seldom used backup that much sweeter.

Go Flames

Except for the last 5-10 minutes, the match-up against Detroit was pretty close last time. While the expectations are not high, there still is a chance for a W tonight.

Hopefully they're not too tired from last night, and good for McE to get a shot.

Hoping McE gets his first W this season and what a win it would be.... in the Joe against the defending cup champs. Should be a good game, it always is with Detroit

Fixed.

Tonight will be a huge test for this team, for sure. Stay out of the box, play a good defensive game and work hard for 60 minutes and this team has a chance.

Conroy on the top line eh? ALL our other centres are playing so great, why not reward Them?

I don't get it...

Conroy has been playing good too guys. Both Glencross and Moss have said how great he is to play with, nothing wrong with Keenan rewarding him (okay now I have to go back to work).

true he is a great leader, and a work horse.. but i just dont get how his 15 game goal-less streak was justified by putting him on the first line.

whatever though, great goal. hope too see alot more of that out of him if he's gonna be playing top minutes.
