Wow, what a game. With the officiating andthe comeback, that just proves you can try to take the dog out of the fight, but you cant take the fight out of the dog. Possibly the best game this season. I cannot wait until Saturday
As soon as i left this thread, we scored so i stayed away. lol. we won. I think im done with GDT's during games now lmao.
I must say that was amazing. I couldn't be a fan and not think in the back of my mind that after the second period that we could come back. After every goal I was thinking the Canes were going to score again and just beat us back. They didn't though, Freaking awesome.
I have been a fan for 16 plus years and i can say for sure this was the best game i have seen in recent memory.
Coming into the game and throughout we faced some adversity.
Injuries to key players. Check. Stall in god mode. Check. Refs very one sided as usual. Check.
I give applause to coach Stevens for sticking with Nitty after the 5 goals. And Hartnell - wow! Alot of people knock him but i love this guy. Hes a hardworker and might not show up on the scoresheet everynight but he sure as hell tries (with the exception of the benching game). What a hit followed by a nice beatdown. Than the hat trick! Awesome. He has been and is solidifying himself as my fav flyer behind Cannon, Kimo and Gags.
Flame away i do not want anyone traded i ****ing love this team!
Here's to my Flyers! You might give me a heart attack one day but im a fan for life!
I fing love this team to but as far as no trades are concerned. i watched that whole game and lupul was pretty much a no show. i mean he didnt get his name announced one i dont think. i think lupul is just out of it. idk if hes hearing the trade rumours or what but it seems like his slump is crossing the line of being too long. but yes he has 8 goals and the rest of the team picks each other up when others arent scoring. still think lupul needs to be moved with jones for a player prospect or just cap space at some point.
Ironically, it was the last time they won in Detroit.
Last time the Flyers erased a 4-goal deficit to start the 3rd it was 1975
The Flyers won the next meeting in Detroit, haven't won since.
Craven had a key goal -- cheap shot by a Red Wings' player with 13 seconds left. I will find that box.
I didn't know about the other note, I'll check into that one.
Edit: Here it is, GKJ. Miroslav Frycer was the guy.
February 23, 1988 -- The Flyers scored seven times in the third period and rallied for one of the franchise's biggest comebacks in an 11-6 conquest of the Red Wings in Detroit. The Flyers scored six goals in 9:17 and out-scored Detroit 10-1 in a stretch of 24:21. The Wings led 3-0 late in the first period and extended the lead to 5-1 12:12 into period two. After the Flyers scored three times in the next 90 seconds, Steve Yzerman gave Detroit a 6-4 lead, the fifth goal of the game in a span of 4:55. The Flyers took their first lead when Mark Howe scored on the PP 7:36 into the final period. Ron Hextall was supposed to start the game but was pulled in favor of Mark Laforest after Hextall, with the flu, vomited just prior to faceoff. After Laforest played less than a minute, Hextall entered the game but was removed after the first period with Detroit leading 3-1. Detroit's Glen Hanlon gave up 11 goals and was replaced very late by Sam St. Laurent, who was once Flyers' property.
November 4, 1988 -- Murray Craven scored on a breakaway with 13 seconds left in regulation to lift the Flyers to a thrilling 4-3 win in Detroit. The goal came 33 seconds after Steve Yzerman completed a hat trick and tied the game at 3-3. After the GWG, Craven received a laceration to the eye from Miroslav Frycer who was charged with an intent to injure match penalty. Craven was subsequently led off the ice with blood oozing from his face. The NHL eventually suspended Frycer for 10 games. Detroit outshot Philly 34-16.

To be fair you get a 5-1 deficit as a team and you climb back from that as a team. Sbisa had a very important play. He was the one who rushed from the bench to keep that puck in the offensive zone which led to the PP. And that was a pretty damn nice play, few d-men would have even tried to keep that puck in.
