The question will be answered - is Eller a center or a LW. I am looking forward to following Peoria this season. Eller, Sonne, Palushaj, Peluso and Bishop. Yeah!

The Rivermen play games tonite and tomorrow nite.

Rivermen coach Davis Payne plans to give Peoria fans a sneak peek at highly-touted rookie prospects Lars Eller and Brett Sonne. They will play on the same line together against Rockford.

I like how that sounds.

I would like to see an Eller-Palushaj-Sonne-Wagner-Junland powerplay. I might have to make it out to some peoria games this year. This is also Bishop's year to prove he is has number 1 goalie potential.

from pjstar.com

Rookie center Lars Eller has been with left wing Yan Stastny and rookie right wing Aaron Palushaj during the week, while Nicholas Drazenovic has been in the middle with Julian Talbot and Barry Tallackson.

Cam Paddock was with Chris Porter and Ryan Reaves.

Brendan Bell paired with 2008-09 AHL All-Star defenseman Jonas Junland and Steve Wagner was with Bryce Lampman while Danny Richmond and Justin Fletcher partnered.

Sounds like just a ploy to put pressure on Peoria to back the team. With the new talent there in Eller and Palushaj it would seem like Peoria has much to look forward to.

I think I read there's an advanced sale of 5,000 for tonite's home opener. The Peoria fans have to turn out this year.

I guess they want Paddock in the lineup and Sonne to work his way into more ice time.

Sonne is centering the fourth line between Love and Cracknell.

And Ryan Reaves scores the first Rivermen goal of the season.

1-0 Peoria over Grand Rapids, halfway through first period.

Rivs lose 3-1

But the roster I scraped together over the summer pretty much turned out to be the opening day roster.

Sunday game -

Junland bounced one in off the goaltender from behind the net on the power play. Rivermen now trail 2-1 late in the first period.

Rivermen win the Sunday game on an OT game winner by Junland, his second goal of the game. Final 3-2.

Junland will be ready next year. Needs to be on the St. Louis blueline in 2010-11?

I really hope Junland sticks around and doesn't give up and works even harder. Hopefully he realizes that he really does have an opportunity on the blue line next season.

Agreed. Appears he just has to improve in his own end. His offensive production is top-notch.

Little surprised that Armstrong isn't in the Peoria lineup Friday night.

Any chance he didn't report?

I read somewhere that the team granted him time to see his family before he reported.

Eller with a 1G 1A, Palushaj with 1A and Junland with 1G going into overtime.

Palushaj and Drazenovic score in shootout for a Rivermen win!

Awesome, these have audio so I'm actually able to understand what's going on.

Junland almost reminds me of Mike Green. He seems to be all over the ice and looks like a 4th forward at times.

Thanks for the link. Looking forward to see Junland's progress this year, looks like the real deal. Cool to see Eller get his 1st goal.

I had few worries about Junland's ability to help the offence at The AHL level. What I'd like to know from people who have been watching Peoria play, is how effective he's been in his own zone when the opponents have te puck.

Does he read the play well, and react quickly and correctly to what the opposing forwards are doing? Does he position well? Is he effective in impeding the progress of the forward he is taking? Does he recover quickly and get back in time from his offensive forays? Can he take forwards out of the play? How effective is he at standing forwards up at the blueline? Does he defend the goal crease adequately? Does he win races to and battles for the puck in his own zone, under pressure? Is he poised and confident carrying the puck out of the defensive zone or making the outlet pass?

Those, I believe, will be the key factors in determining when he gets his trail and if he can stick on The Blues' NHL roster.
