Oilers Vs. Blues, March 4 8pm Eastern, GDT: Nedved Era Begins

Well, I'm still not convinced the Oilers will make the dance, but I bet they will entertain us on their way. It would be nice to hurt the Blues' chances, those Weight stealin' varmits! Let's see what Nedved & Dvorak can do together with Torres. The New York line?

It would be nice to hurt the chances of a big spender....win the two VERY winnable games vs. the Blues & Hawks that will get us 70pts. and we have a 99% chance of playing against a 74pt Cowtown team on the 9th. Thats going to be intense.

The Blues are what? Winless in their last 7? I'll be mad as hell if the Oilers find a way to lose this stinker. 5-1 Oilers.

Glad Kevin Lowe addressed the Oilers 2 most pressing needs right now, a gamebreaking centre and goalie. I would be comfortable with a Markkanen/Conklin tandem.

Who gets the nod for the starter? Will Juice be there in time to save us from Salo??? Will Nedved be there? I'm excited I hope he has an immediate impact, maybe scores a goal. I hope he centres Torres and Dvorak.

How I wish, how I wish Doug was here
Hes just one lost soul swimming in a fishbowl year after year

No word on who is starting, but Nedved and Markkanen will be meeting the team in St. Louis, so Markkanen will at least dress.

Salo sure sounds happy, too. http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/Edmont...04/369550.html

Looks like Torres will play with Ned and Dvo.

Markkanen is likely to start IMO.

I GUARANTEE an Oiler win tonight. The guys are pumped.

4-1 Nedved gets 1G 1A

Oh man, I'm super psyched to see these guys play. My girlfriend is not going to be happy when I tell her that I'm not going to see her because the Oilers are playing, but that's life.

For my sake, the Oilers had better win!! 4-1 over a struggling Blues team who can't seem to tickle the twine.

For shame. My girlfriend has become an absolutely rabid Oilers fan since last year's playoffs. I guess I'm just lucky. She doesn't even think it odd that I'm happy to go on only a couple of hours' sleep to catch the East coast games. In fact, she insists.

Ah, I'm set there. She grew up a Leaf fan (it's hard not to in Ontario); but I have since converted her.

Allan, she doesn't watch with me because it's too much of a pain in the butt for her to come over to my place (where the NHL Network is); she has a puppy to take care of at home (the one usually pictured in my avatar). On weekends, when she's not as busy, we do watch the Oiler games together; usually very drunk with a group of friends.

Actually, the funny thing about my group of friends (usually 2 couples) is the mix of fans we have. I'm an Oiler fan (well DUH ), my girlfriend is about 90% Oiler fan now I think, but still follows the Leafers, we have a full blown Leafer (the other guys girlfriend), and a Flames fan.

What's even worse is, I live with the guy that is the Flames fan. Makes for AWSOME battle of Albertas in this house 4000 km away from the action. The running bet is that the loser has to wear the others jersey for the whole next day (and I have had to wear that DAMN Flames jersey way too many times this year).

As long as she has a good excuse, I can't say much. I have two young rabbits, so I can't leave for too long myself. If I do, the one we adopted last week starts chewing on everything he can reach, and then they fight. They'll get used to each other soon, but it's a lot of work to introduce territorial animals if you don't want the house destroyed.

Morley Scott said on the radio that Jussi should get the start. The era of having to score 5 goals to win might be over for us.

What a let down it will be if they don't win! But I really have a feeling they will pull it off tonight.

Maybe I am reading too much into this but Salo says at the end of the story that they have no idea how long 'Conklin' will be out. In any other story the guys always call him 'Conks'. Has anybody written anything this year about how Salo and Conklin get along or how happy Tommy has been with him as his backup?

You have a very smart girlfriend. Still, she should watch the game anyway b/c it's bound to be a good battle imo.

I'm pulling for the Oilers in this one, don't care for St. Loo and I'm hoping all 6 Canadian teams get into the playoffs.

Oilers 4
Blues 2

this has to be the biggest game of the year. A win here and a win in Chicago means the oilers are headed to Cowtown only 4 points back. We may have to get tickets for that game.

Nothing like a couple of guys in Oiler 3rd jerseys cheering on the annual death march of the Flames, in THEIR building.

So what happens when York and Isbister come back, hopefully in the next couple of weeks?

As of today, here are the lines:

Torres Nedved Dvo
Moreau Oates Hemsky
Smyth Horcoff Pisani
Chimera Stoll BG

Add them in, perhaps we get:

York Nedved Dvorak
Torres Oates Hemsky
Smyth Horcoff Pisani
Isbister Stoll Laraque

Chimera, Semenov, Ferguson, Bishai in the pressbox...and where does Moreau fit in? He has to play somewhere, but who comes out? Isbister or Pisani?

Nice problem to have, but still a problem.
