I don't want to be Dr. Doomsday or Mr. Poopy here but this team's intensity this season has been a HUGE disappointment.

I cannot fathom this team going anywhere in the playoffs unless changes are made.

Sorry for the pessimism.

Hopefully Ovechkin won't score when he will come out of the box..

The D looks dead tired : Gorges,Bouillon,Brisebois and Markov are all out of gaz.

Just wondering....who the **** chose Laraque over Brashear???

They're just not in the same league as far as playing hockey is concerned......

The team is fundamentally flawed though. Maybe the Habs need more guys over 210 lbs. or something or they just need weight training. The Caps were allll over the Habs. How can you score goals when your top line players are too weak to get to the net or fight off attackers? Special teams this year=disastrous.

Also on another note, it's kinda weird the team played with intensity in the games SKost and Lats were out.. they come back and we're back to being puff balls again.

He was our best forward in this period.

Brutal effort from the veterans of this team. Kovalev, Lang, Tanguay and to a lesser extent, Plekanec. Just zero heart and determination.

Bouillon might as well of pulled up and grabbed a chair to watch that first goal.

Terrible hockey, habs get dominated worse on the powerplay than 5 on 5. All they can manage is flighty sporadic chances or long bombs. If they go into the corners they get made to look silly, they try and set up on the side boards and the Caps just wait till they give it to them.

Massive amount of giveaways and atrocious passing, this game will be a blowout if Halak doesn't stand on his head.

Our main problem in this period: Face-offs

13-5 for Washington.

It's hard to organize something when you don't control the puck.

and O'byrne still can't make a pass.

What was the slapshot from his own blue line with no pressure on him ? Come on.

WHAT DO YOU WANT TANGUAY AND LANG TO DO? Kovalev is just dancing around with the puck trying to deke everybody and makes passes only to Markov.

Kovalev is bringing this team down. Not because of his effort. Because of his stubborness and his refusal to actually watch in the mirror and make adjustments.

From Gainey to Carbo to Timmins, this team is build to have speed and skill. They're certainly willing to die with that concept. We'll see how it pays off. I'm not convince myself, for a long time now and especially for the playoffs.

And whoever keeps saying Detroit to say that it's possible, who's our Zetterberg, who's our Holmstrom, who's our Frenzen, our Maltby, Draper, Cleary.....And you can't compare our team to them who have in their ranks 2 of the best 2-way players in the game and 1 of the best d-man for the past 10 years....

It wasn't that bad of a period. The pace was great to start and hopefully they come out the same for the 2nd.

Latendresse, Tanguay, D'agostini, Lapierre, have been the few bright spots on offense this period.

Jeremy Williams time! Leaf AHL lovefest time! I called it in the Out of Town Thread:

"Jeremy Williams ties it for Toronto. I guarantee that shameless Leaf homer Cherry will bring him up in Coach's Corner tomorrow. This despite the fact we'll be the national game and the Leafs will be absent. He is so obsessed with Leaf matters, as his constant Leaf rants over the years have praised the AHL fodder such as Clarke Wilm, Ben Ondrus, Andy Wozsniewski, Kris Newbury and John Mitchell. He thinks every Leaf AHL'er in his mid-20s is gold, whether they be Kyle Wellwood or Jay Harrison. Seriously, he has praised all of the above (understandable for Welly but come on!). And people say he knows his hockey?"

Add Sifers to that list. Why hasn't he realized that AHL guys only play well at first? Where's his love for D'Agostini then? Oh I forgot, he doesn't play in Toronto. Bwahah, he calls Burke "The Irishman."
