it's a huge market, and it might not... maybe they still pack the gardens... but I would think that it's a market that is still geared towards star attractions, and with so many other options in NY there might be better things to do than watch a Pittsburg like team on the ice for a few years...

I know the real hockey fans would love it - it makes sense... but what about the bottom line - does the franchise stand to make more money, lose money, or stand the same when all revenue avenues are considered if they go into a rebuild??
it might effect attendance and stuff but after the last 7 years about 98% of the tickets are sold...it might drop to 90% but not much more cause so many of the seats are season ticket holders...

AND on top of that keep in mind as far as the finances go...the rangers could cut their payroll by $40 mil during a rebuild which means that even if the building is 1/2 full they are still making more $$ than they did the last 7 years

Most Ranger fans are smarter and more loyal than outsiders think. Gotta agree with Singin and Shadow and NYR469 here, they are right on the mark as to what the Diehard Ranger fan wants. Whether Dolan has a clue is doubtful but Sather had to try something different to keep his job. This way he gets a few more years without high expectations to try and save his reputation.... personally I think Burke is waiting for this job to open and Ranger fans everywhere, will say a prayer that it happens, Rebuild guys, behold the birth of the new Dawn... its been a long time coming and Singin and Shadow, I'm so happy for you guys.....I know there were times you thought this day would never come....Hallelujah.
