Stars acquire Sutherby from Ducks

Gave up a collegiate prospect for him. We still need help on D, so hopefully that's their next move.

McIntyre was always fun to watch. The guy has wheels that few others have. He was one guy that I thought might make a push for the NHL, but maybe he will on the Ducks now.

I like Sutherby. He's a quality defensive center and isn't afraid to mix it up. His contract is on the low end and he's an impending UFA at season's end.

This does, however, conflict with the perceived Stars plan to land Hedman.

Another warm body with more NHL experience than alot of our forwards?

At this point though what can it hurt?

Yup. This was a LowEndProspect for WarmBody trade, and it might indicate yet another injury in the forward ranks.

Or Conner getting shot into the sun!

Perhaps we should trade him to the Wings for Lilja.

Finally, a decent move. Sutherby is better than at least 6 of our currently playing fowards.

Not a bad trade, I think the Ducks felt sorry for us this season though, lol.

np catters

As much as I would love Ott to be on the 4th line, Tippett insists on keeping him on one of the top 2 lines. Drives me batty! My guess is Petersen would go back to centering the 4th line and Ott would play wing where it drives me nuts the most, which would be where Neal is in that line up.

I think that there is chance Lundqvist returns on Tuesday. If that happens, I would think Tippett reunites the Richards line from the playoffs.

Ribeiro's line has been solid since they've been together. Well, at least in the offensive zone.

Modano splitting time with Petersen/Parrish and the 4th liners is un-freaking-believable.

Basically, we know two guys are going to be ready in the near future (Lundqvist and Sutherby).

My best guess for that situation:

Lundqvist-Richards-Eriksson
Neal-Ribeiro-Brunnstrom
Wandell-Modano-Wilson
Sutherby-Petersen-Parrish

Scratch:Conner and Barch

I just don't think that Wandell will get scratched. The minute that happens, he goes back to Sweden. I didn't go with Petersen on Modano's LW because Petersen hasn't done much there, but he has been very good at Center. Wilson over Parrish because Parrish has done ****, and he and Petersen may click. I went with Sutherby on the 4th line because I don't now much about him. I know he'll fight, maybe he'll replace Barch. I don't know if he could play a similar role as Ott has in the past with Modano or not.

When Lehtinen gets healthy, which should be before Ott, the only change would be:

Neal-Ribeiro-Lehtinen
Wandell-Modano-Brunnstrom

With Ott back:

Ott-Modano-Brunnstorm

That's my best guess at least.

You can't tell me he has more value than:

Brunnstrom, Eriksson, Lundqvist, Modano, Neal, Parrish, Petersen, Ribeiro, Richards, or Wandell.

I didn't say Sutherby because I haven't seen him play for the Stars yet, but I highly doubt the Stars scratch a guy they just traded for.

Wilson and Barch are interchangeable. Wilson gets an edge for his right shot, but Barch gets an edge because he'll drop the gloves. Sutherby will also drop the gloves though. In the end, Tippett has gone to Wilson more often lately than Barch which is why I thought they’d go with him.

On a completely unrelated note, I can’t stop laughing because I just heard President Bush say, “That’s what happens in a free society,” in regards to an Iraqi journalist throwing shoes at him. Really? In free societies you can throw shoes at people? If that’s the case, I’m taking a few extra size 10’s to the Stars game. With any luck, I’m tagging Sydor or Turco.

Maybe Jackson will step in and get Barch out of the lineup.

Conner and Wilson will both be out of the lineup before Barch gets scratched. I also wouldn't categorize Barch and Wilson as interchangeable.

As far as how Sutherby will be used... I'm sure he'll rotate through all our centers to see if there's chemistry. I think Modano might end up being the best choice in the long run.

Approximating a healthy lineup (which will never happen) after Wandell goes back:

Neal-Ribs-Loui
Joel-Rich-Fabian
Sutherby-Mo-Lehts
Barch-Petersen-Parrish

Looks like a All-Star team compared to what we're used to.

Here is the condition for the draft pick.

The Ducks will also receive a sixth-round selection in the 2010 NHL entry draft if the Stars re-sign Sutherby, who stands to become an unrestricted free agent after this season.
You guys will like Sutherby...he always gives it his all and is a feisty player.

I think that's a good move for Dallas and it shakes up the team . Sutherby will bring the energy Stars needed in a long time . Let's Go Stars

well so far as Krys Barch goes I can't see him being behind Conners, Wilson, or even Parrish because the coaching staff obviously thought higher of him at the start of the year then these guys, and none of them have done anything to prove they deserve a spot on the team going forward. I'm going to guess that Conners is the odd man out, just because he was the last man up (please let this logic hold up).

my lines:

Neal - Ribeiro - Brunnstrom
Wandell - Richards - Eriksson
Sutherby - Modano - Parrish
Barch - Peterson - Wilson

I like Wandell, he plays with speed and fore-checks hard in the opposition end. Why not give him a shot on the second line? all the other candidates are plugs.

I only have 2 problems with that.

1) I doubt that Tippett breaks up Richards and Eriksson. They've been quite the past couple games, but I don't see them getting split up long term.

2) If a defensive forward is playing with Modano, it's going to be Ott.
