Buffalo and Dallas

Hey guys, what would it take for the Sabres to get their hands on Modano at the trade deadline? This is under the assumption that you guys are still out of the playoffs ofcourse...

I was thinking something along the lines of Clarke MacArthur and a pick. He's listed as a 7.0 B on Hockeysfuture and was producing nicely with Hecht and Pominville. His numbers arent great (6g, 6a) because hes been playing on the 4th line lately as there really is no room for him in our lineup.

I think Modano would do wonders for the Sabres, namely in experience. If you are out of the race come March, would you pull the trigger? and if not what would need to be added? Thanks fellas.

Whether or not Modano wants to move is entirely up to him. He's stated previously that he wants to spend the duration of his contract (almost certainly his last) in Dallas, but stranger things have happened, and he may welcome a trade at the deadline. And I suppose Buffalo's got as good a shot as any team if that's the case.

The contraction of the Dallas Stars as a franchise would be a good start.

All player loyalties aside, I highly doubt that Hull wouldn't deal Modano if his team was clearly out of the playoff picture and there was an enticing offer on the table.

Being best friends does have it's pull. Aside from that I do not see the Stars organization disrespecting Modano's wishes after spending his entire career here and being the face of the fanchise. If Mo wants to stay he will stay.

I find it hard to believe they would trade Lehtinen, too.

Sure he's not the face of the franchise, but he has helped win a cup here, won a few Selkes, and the Stars have been his only professional team. Sounds like a Stars-lifer to me.

Zubov has an NTC and does not want to be traded. He threw a hissy fit when he was traded to Dallas in the summer. He's not going anywhere.

I didn't phrase that well.

When he was initially traded from Pittsburgh to Dallas, he was very annoyed and didn't show up to training camp on time in protest.

Ah, ok.

How long was he in Pittsburgh, anyways? He's spent the lion's share of his career in Dallas, and I'm hoping he wants to stay, although there will almost certainly be other GM's knocking on our door come the trade deadline if Dallas is out of it, seeking Sergei's help.

My gut says none of the 3 get traded. At least I hope they don't... picks be damned.

If Modano is traded it will only be because he wants that to happen.

And knowing his history there's no reason I can think of why he might be in favor of that.

One season (95-96).

I highly doubt he would agree to a trade anywhere, unless that team was a sure fire bet to win a Cup. Then again, he already has two, so it's not like he's a Bourque or somebody trying to fill that last hole on the resume.

I highly doubt Hull gets to have much input into player moves these days, if he ever really did.

To Buffalo: Mike Modano
To Dallas: An admission that Hull's goal was a good goal and then a promise that to never talk about it ever again.
