Toskala, Stralman, and Antrapov For Foligno, 1st (SJ) and Gerber
Toskala gives Ottawa another option in net when Auld inevitably goes back to being inconsistent. Anton gives Ottawa another high ceiling defensive prospect who can move the puck. Where as Antropov gives them a seconday scorer who can help this year.
Foligno is the prospect that evens out the deal for the Leafs. The SJ first is more like a second I included it because I think that Burkie could package it later on to possibly move up. Gerber is the throw in for Cap purposes. Hes a UFA and the Leafs would obviously let him walk thus saving them cap room for next year or when Burkie inevitably makes his move. Anyways this is my first proposal and maybe I'm way off but I think its fair. Let me know what you think maybe a counter proposal.
The value isn't bad but it's a completely impractical offer as far as Ottawa is concerned.
1. Ottawa doesn't need help in goal tending this year Auld has been solid enough for us to win games, and Gerber is a good backup. Looking to next year, I believe the plan is for Brian Elliot to backup Auld. Brian Elliot has shown he has more than enough talent for starter potential. I don't think we need to be pushing him down the depth chart next year.
2. Stralman would be nice, but we have Mattias Karlsson, Erik Karlsson, Patrick Weircoich and Brian Lee slated to be up in a year or two. Stralman isn't the type of prospect we really need.
3. Foligno and the 1st rounder are only going to be used for something we really need. People underestimate Foligno's value. At times when the team is playing poorly it seems like he's the only one putting out a good effort and really getting those prime scoring chances. If we were going to get a finisher, I'd put him on a line with Foligno because they would compliment each other really well. I'd rather hold on to Foligno than get Antropov for one year.
