Solid move. I was hoping the Canucks would land Sillinger, but obviously St. Louis had an asset in Johnson that Vancouver couldn't match.

The Coyotes needed another goalie and the Blues needed someone who can contribute any offense whatsoever. Boucher is terrible again, just like he was after his honeymoon ended in Philly. Another trade without a rumor, but thats how most trades are. I can say I saw this coming after it was obvious Boucher isn't a good goalie.

Oh, I can see the rationale behind it. Just taken by suprise.

I guess with the flurry of trades that are happening right now, a minor deal like this doesn't even register on the rumour mills.

These next few days will be interesting, as I expect that there will be a lot of deals like this happening. Smaller deals for supporting players that haven't gotten much press will be made fast and furiously.

Is Bierk still injured for the Coyotes? Or is Boucher struggling that much?

Dang, wish Canucks could've picked up Sillinger. Traded Moss for Sarno and Auld ain't going anywhere. Oh well.

Now Phoenix is back to where they began.

Three goalies in Boucher, Bierk, and Johnson. Why create that glut again?

Because Phoenix is hoping one of them is actually an NHL calibre starting goalie. Hope seems to be a key operating word with the Coyotes management. Personally I much prefer the word competence.

Brent could have been picked up on waivers.....so I'm really not impressed with this deal at all from PHO perspective.

let me preface this by saying that I like the Coyotes. Maybe a Coyotes fan could fill me in on the specifics of these deals but this doesn't seem like the greatest of asset management to me....

Numminen for Sillinger
Burke + Radivojevic + Eager for Comrie
Sillinger for Johnson

So they ended up dealing...
Burke + Numminen + Radivojevic + Eager for Johnson + Comrie.

That doesn't look so good to me.

Maybe this sets up Phoenix to make another move? Tampa was rumored to have interest in Chris Gratton. Since Jay Feaster also said he'd be looking for a third goalie, does this make Phoenix a one-stop shop for what the Lightning are looking for?

This lightens the load for PHX at centre. You're down to what? Six centremen?

Comrie, Gratton, Langkow, Taffe, Kolanos, and Hrdina. I see another deal with the Coyote centremen involved before the dust settles.

I hope we don't trade Gratton.

And yes he is good on faceoffs. One of the best...

Gratton makes $2.2 million or so this year, and is a RFA this summer. He's particularly good on faceoffs, over 50% on average I'd say. He's a goner, he won't make it past the deadline that's for sure. I don't see the Panthers making a bid for him, only playoff teams (no offense).

-weak at center

-small

-poor on face-offs...

-went after gratton last year, but couldn't top the offer of Briere

Burke/Numminen will be retired within a couple years (possibly after this year) & make a combined $9-10MM. Radivojevic was a obtained for free (unsigned by the AVS) he is currently only getting about 10 minutes of ice time on an injury-riddle flyers roster. Eager may or may not be an NHL'er. I believe he is also due a contract & as the Coyotes 2nd first round pick in a weak draft, there have been hints the Coyotes didn't want to pay him first round pick money.

Comrie will be an elite player for another 10-15 years.
Johnson is young and as a goalie is several years away from his prime years.

That's how I view it, although only time will tell.

Drafted by our man Dave Draper, and to be groomed by Benoit Allaire... who works wonders for anyone willing to listen to him (key phrase)

Boucher breaks a record that not even guys like Roy or Brodeur have touched but luckily we have gkj to tell us all he's obviously not a good goalie.

C'mon I can understand calling him streaky or inconsistant but to say he isnt a good goalie is just plain silly.
