Two very similar players, a much better comparison in my opinion than Kovalchuk-Getzlaf.

Both players enjoyed a statistical coming out party last season, and have continued their stellar play thus far. Both possess tremendous leadership qualities and two-way ability (the intangibles everyone around here loves), and both are tough as nails.

Honestly I think they're very comparable players, and seeing as I'm an Eastern Conference guy, I'll take Richards, as I'm more familiar with his game than Getzlaf's.

I'm sure you can't go wrong with either player, of course.

I'm more familiar with Getzlaf's game than Richards', so although my vote is partly out of ignorance, I'll go with Getzlaf. I figure he's got to win one of these polls sooner or later

haha so East vs West hey? Both have so much heart. I'd take Getzlaf! cause of his size more or less.

Haha, oh wow, I read Mike Richards as Brad Richards. Take one away from Getzlaf and give it to Richards please.

I agree completely. Except in this case I have to go Getzlaf. With all the similarities in how they play, I ultimately go with the big RH centre in the "tie-breaker".

edit: I think Carter may be an even better comparison for Getzlaf. Both are big RH centres who may have broken out for good, have pretty good 2-way games, etc, etc.

I'm pretty sure this poll was done about two weeks ago.

It's very close, can't go wrong either way. I think they're at the top of the list of second tier young stars behind the big 3.

All I have to say is the 2003 draft is absolutely ridiculous.

I would have loved a Richards-Getzlaf, that'd have been absurd. But then again, so is Richards-Carter, so whatever.

What a sick, sick draft class.

I think this poll has been done at least 5 times.

I'll take Richards but it's incredibly close. Probably just homerism but I think he's a bit better all around and a better playmaker which I like to see in a center

I was wondering how you'd choose, what with two Canadians in the poll and all.

Did you flip a coin?

Hmmmm....This is a tough one, either decision is right. I am going to go with Getz because I see him a lot more. But I like Richards being a shorthanded threat

I took Richards because I am more familiar with him but he is such a fantastic player. What recently impressed me was him actually having a quality that I somehow miss on other players and I believe is a bit underappreciated: Patience.

Look at the highlights against the Coyotes, Dallas or yesterday against Colorado. He knows exactly where everybody is on the ice and exactly how much time he has to prepare and often finds the exact moment to pass the puck or shoot, may it be just to let the defender shift a little bit to the side or have a guy lying on the ice to block the shot slide by or change the angle of the shot just a tiny bit. If you give Mike Richards time, you are as good as dead.

Getzlaf and I wouldn't think twice. Oh and this is because mainly I think I have seen Carter play maybe 4 total games.

Richie, cause there may not be a more all-around threat than him right now.

Very tough decision but I chose Mike Richards because of his playmaking abilities and his strength of penalty killing.

Took Getzlaf....but I'm a homer. And I think Richard's nickname is dumb.
