If he does join, I hope this team is not majorly dismantled to accomodate him. Some minor moves would be fine, moving an expensive defenseman would be fine, but if the Rangers have to move Scott Gomez, Brandon Dubinsky, or Nik Zherdev I would say no to the deal. This team still has to have enough parts to compete for the Cup, not trade away important pieces or possibly even the future for a player who may only be here for half a season. And even though he isn't playing much, I hope they hang on to Prucha and trade the likes of Roszival, Redden, Kalinin, Dawes, Fritsche, Rissmiller.
I love how everyone sees this as the instant solution to all of our problems. Sundin is old, hasn't played in 6 months, and IMO wasn't even that good last season. Hopefully his contract won't handcuff us further, and hopefully I'm wrong about his play - but the way things have gone lately for this team, I doubt it.

THE FAN 590's Bob McCown is reporting that former Toronto Maple Leafs' captain Mats Sundin has decided to join the New York Rangers. McCown's source, who has intimate knowledge of the situation, expects this decision to made public later this week.
On paper this move makes us better. However, I will have to wait to see what roster moves are made, and which players switch positions before I am sold on it. If he is in fact coming here, I hope it works out, but I am just not sure it is the answer.
