Nobody will give up quality assets for Lupul.

2nd one is just cringeworthy.

Likewise Flyers aren't going to trade an NHL player for a prospect. Things like this only get done in package deals. Flyers will be getting rid of Lupul in all likelihood this offseason, and while every idiot in here blows a gasket when he's mentioned in a way that suggests he has any value I'd love to see where they rank a solid 50 point+ forward. When all is said and done he'll be getting a much higher value than everyone here thinks and won't be a salary dump.

Usually young forwards make money. That's all Lupul is doing. $4.25m isn't at all unreasonable for a young top line winger.

As for this trade proposal, it's not going to happen.

Considering Lupul is a quality asset, I don't see why not.

Minnesota needs more prospects and young players, I doubt they move Harding for Lupul.

The lightning probably won't trade Smith because they practically moved Richards (a player much better than Lupul) to aquire him, and would then have no consistant starting goaltender themselves after the trade.

Uhh.. where in this thread is there a proposal involving anything other than a full-time NHLer (or a draft pick packaged with Lupul)?

What about switching the proposal around and including JVR?

I don't see the second one being nearly as lopsided as the first one! I know Minny signed Backstrom, doesn't mean Harding is being shipped off for a mediocre offer. They'll be better offers for Harding if he's available and to be honest and if I were a betting man, I'd say Philly makes a pitch, a significant pitch. I feel Harding would require a top forward prospect (Hey! Philly has at least two of them!)

The only thing that makes that a bad offer for Minny is Lupul's contract (starting next season)

Lupul is a good player who (if healthy) should score 30 goals. His contract is just a bit too high right now.

Its better, but considering Tampas goaltending struggles over the last couple of years, its just not realistic to take it unless Ramo was blowing us away right now, and hes not.

We just now have a true #1 goalie for the first time post lockout. We are not moving him.

Way to add nothing to the conversation. That counterproposal is ridiculous.

No.

Two totally different situations, the biggest difference is Boyle was signed to a big contract by the previous ownership where Smith is signed long term cheaply by the current ownership.

holy overpayment, batman. is smith really that great that he'd warrant 3 players with top line/pairing potential?

To get us to move the first true #1 since Khabi left that is signed for 950k this year, and 2/2.4 for the next two years, yeah, it would take something ridiculous.

It'd be horribly lopsided to Philly but we really have no reason to move him.

My counter from the Wild would be Giroux and Nodl for Harding.

Giroux goes no where. We need the cheap offense.

I think Homer is going to make you happy this offseason BillyShoes. There are lots of guys who are going to be available in a trade I think.

Smith is probably almost untouchable.

JVR, Parent, and a pick.

not at all worth it for the Flyers. There's no reason for Tampa to trade him and there's a lot of surplus goaltending out there that the Flyers could look at without giving up anything close to me.
